In many countries, there is a large amount of public money spent on health care. Some patient tests and treatments are not only unnecessary but also may be harmful, leading health researchers to look for the most effective interventions to change physician behaviour. The purpose of this chapter is to describe some of the interventions used to modify physician behaviour and highlight their challenges observed in a Canadian provincial context.
