Purpose: To assess the validity of the GoCheck Kids photoscreening application (Gobiquity Mobile Health, Scottdale, AZ) on iPhone, which was used (2018-2022) as standard of care by Child and Family (Kind en Gezin) to detect amblyopia risk factors in children 12-30 months of age.

Methods: Between August 2021 and May 2022, 453 children 11-16 months of age underwent a confirmatory ophthalmic examination within 2 months of GoCheck Kids photoscreening at Child and Family, Flanders, Belgium. Additionally, manual review was performed by specialists of GoCheck Kids.

Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency is an inherited enzymatic disorder associated with severe neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and acute haemolysis after exposure to certain drugs or infections. The disorder can be diagnosed phenotypically with a fluorescent spot test (FST), which is a simple test that requires training and basic laboratory equipment. Unlabelled: Oxygen is a neonatal health hazard that should be avoided in clinical practice. In this review, an international team of neonatologists and nurses assessed oxygen saturation (SpO2 ) targeting in preterm infants and evaluated the potential weaknesses of randomised clinical trials.

There remains a need for alternative medical treatments for patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) closure in extreme preterm neonates because of therapeutic failure and adverse effects associated with non-selective cyclo-oxygenase inhibitors. Reports of an association between paracetamol exposure and PDA closure in a limited number of extreme preterm neonates have been published.
