Association between serum folate levels and migraine or severe headaches: A nationwide cross-sectional study.

Migraine and severe headaches are common neurological disorders with significant societal impact. Previous research indicates a potential link between serum folate levels and migraine occurrence, yet there is a lack of sufficient relevant studies and more are required. This study aimed to determine the association between a severe headache or migraine and serum folate levels in large populations.

Association between hs-CRP/HDL-C ratio and three-month unfavorable outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke: a second analysis based on a prospective cohort study.

Objective: The associations between the ratio of blood high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) (hs-CRP/HDL-C ratio) and outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) have yet to be established. This study is the first to examine the relationship between the hs-CRP/HDL-C ratio and three-month unfavorable outcomes in patients with AIS.

Methods: This secondary analysis utilized data from a prospective cohort study involving 1559 AIS patients recruited at a South Korean hospital between January 2010 and December 2016.

Elevated serum uric acid is associated with cognitive impairment in acute minor ischemic stroke patients.

Background: Acute minor ischemic stroke (AMIS) has been proven to be strongly associated with post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI). Few studies have reported that uric acid (UA) levels are linked to PSCI in patients with AMIS, and those results are debatable. We investigated the relationship between serum UA levels and cognitive impairment in patients with AMIS.

Correlation between matrix metalloproteinase-2 polymorphisms and first and recurrent atherosclerotic ischemic stroke events: a case-control study.

Objective: To determine the associations between matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2, encoded by the gene) 1306C/T and 735C/T polymorphisms and first and recurrent ischemic stroke in a Chinese population.

Methods: Patients with first and recurrent ischemic stroke were included. Serum MMP-2 was measured, and 1306C/T and 735C/T polymorphisms were detected.
