Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) has become an indispensable tool for high-throughput analysis of macromolecules, but many challenges still remain in detection of small molecules due to the severe matrix-related background interference in the low-molecular-weight ranges (MW < 700 Da). Herein, a gallic acid (GA)-functionalized zirconium 1,4-dicarboxybenzene metal-organic framework (MOF) (denoted as UiO-66-GA) was designed to serve as a new substrate, and a novel strategy on the basis of the synergistic effect of MOF and GA was developed to enhance the LDI process. In comparison with conventional organic matrices, the UiO-66-GA substrate showed superior LDI performance in the analysis of a wide variety of molecules including amino acids, unsaturated fatty acids, bisphenols (BPs), oligosaccharides, peptides, protein, and polyethylene glycol (PEG) of various average molecular weights from 200 to 10000.

The application of biochar-supported nanoscale zero-valent iron (biochar-nZVI) was successfully implemented in a field demonstration for the first time. To overcome the significant shortcomings of nZVI agglomeration for in-situ groundwater remediation, biochar-nZVI was injected into groundwater using direct-push and water pressure driven packer techniques for a site impacted by chlorinated solvents in the North China Plain. The field demonstration comprising two-step injections was implemented to demonstrate the effectiveness of nZVI and biochar-nZVI respectively.

The molecular interactions between compound and polymeric carriers are expected to highly contribute to high drug load and good physical stability of solid dispersions. In this study, a series of amorphous solid dispersions (ASD) of Curcumin (Cur) were prepared with different polymers by the solvent evaporation method. With the carrier polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), the amorphous solid dispersion system exhibits a better solubility and stability than that with poloxamers and HP-β-CD due to the strong drug-polymer interaction.

In this study, we proposed and experimentally demonstrated a high breakdown voltage (BV) and low dynamic ON-resistance (R) AlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) by implanting fluorine ions in the thick SiN passivation layer between the gate and drain electrodes. Instead of the fluorine ion implantation in the thin AlGaN barrier layer, the peak position and vacancy distributions are far from the two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) channel in the case of fluorine ion implantation in the thick passivation layer, which effectively suppresses the direct current (DC) static and pulsed dynamic characteristic degradation. The fluorine ions in the passivation layer also extend the depletion region and increase the average electric field (E-field) strength between the gate and drain, leading to an enhanced BV.
