For this purpose, H-NMR with adapted water pulse pre-saturation sequences and calibration curves with commercial standard solutions can be used to quantify the photorespiratory cycle intermediates, 2-phosphoglycolate and glycolate, associated with the phosphoglycolate phosphatase reaction. The intensity of the H-NMR signal of glycolate produced by the activity of purified recombinant Arabidopsis thaliana PGLP1 can therefore be used to determine PGLP1 enzymatic activities and kinetic parameters.

The present hypothesis-generating study sought to explore the efficacy of a staging system of cardiac damage based on echocardiographic and invasive [right heart catheterization (RHC)] hemodynamic parameters in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).
Methods: We studied 90 symptomatic patients with severe AS in whom echocardiographic and invasive evaluation by RHC was obtained prior to TAVI.

Treatment failure is commonly linked to accumulation of point mutations; however, the contribution of single mutations to resistance and the mechanisms underlying resistance remain incompletely understood. Here, we show that a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) selected during daptomycin therapy inactivates the highly conserved ClpP protease and is causing reduced susceptibility of MRSA to daptomycin, vancomycin, and β-lactam antibiotics as well as decreased expression of virulence factors.
