Misoprostol, a synthetic analogue of prostaglandin E1, is commonly used in gynecology, particularly in combination with mifepristone for elective abortion. Although its use is widespread, the potential teratogenic effects of misoprostol in cases of failed medical abortion have not been sufficiently explored in the medical literature. Severe congenital malformations, although rare, have been reported, raising concerns about the impact of this drug on fetal development.
