Introduction: Contraceptive care is critical piece of quality sexual reproductive healthcare. Providers directly impact client experiences and clinical outcomes; it is important to understand how providers offer contraceptive care and the factors influencing this care. This systematic review summarizes recent research on providers, their perspectives, experiences, barriers, and facilitators to offering contraceptive counseling, education, and care.

Introduction: Contraceptive care is an opportunity for providers to help clients achieve their reproductive health goals. Client-centeredness is a core element of quality care; however, evidence suggests that the provision of client-centered contraceptive counseling needs improvement. This systematic review summarizes recent evidence on client preferences related to contraceptive care, including how client-centered approaches inform outcomes.

Importance: In December 2023, the Biden-Harris Administration released a proposed framework for exercising government march-in rights (effectively granting compulsory licenses for those patents to generic drug makers) under the Bayh-Dole Act on patents on taxpayer-funded drugs, which has renewed questions about whether march-in rights could promote cost savings through generic competition or harm pharmaceutical innovation.

Objectives: To determine the feasibility of using march-in rights to remove patent barriers to generic competition.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This cross-sectional study examined government funding information from multiple sources for patents listed in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Orange Book from 1985 to 2023.

Early-life adversity (ELA), such as abuse, neglect, lack of resources, and an unpredictable home environment, is a known risk factor for developing neuropsychiatric disorders such as depression. Animal models for ELA have been used to study the impact of chronic stress on brain development, and typically rely on manipulating the quality and/or quantity of maternal care, as this is the major source of early-life experiences in mammals, including humans. Here, a detailed protocol for employing the Limited Bedding and Nesting (LBN) model in mice is provided.

Background: As resources into gynecological surgical simulation training increase, research showing an association with improved clinical outcomes is needed.

Objective: To evaluate the association between surgical simulation training for total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) and rates of intraoperative vascular/visceral injury (primary outcome) and operative time.

Search Strategy: We searched Medline OVID, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane, and CINAHL databases from the inception of each database to April 5, 2022.

This paper introduces a newly digitized, open-access version of the Food and Drug Administration's "Orange Book"-a linkage between approved small-molecule drugs and the patents that protect them. The Orange Book also reports any applicable regulatory exclusivity that prevents competitive entry. We summarize the Orange Book's coverage and discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with using these data for research.

Neurons coordinate their activity to produce an astonishing variety of motor behaviors. Our present understanding of motor control has grown rapidly thanks to new methods for recording and analyzing populations of many individual neurons over time. In contrast, current methods for recording the nervous system's actual motor output - the activation of muscle fibers by motor neurons - typically cannot detect the individual electrical events produced by muscle fibers during natural behaviors and scale poorly across species and muscle groups.

Background And Objectives: Firearm-related traumatic brain injury (TBI) has emerged as a significant public health issue in the United States, coinciding with a rapid increase in gun-related deaths. This scoping review aims to update our understanding of firearm-related TBI in adult populations.

Methods: A comprehensive search of 6 online databases yielded 22 studies that met the inclusion criteria.

NF-κB signaling has broad effects on cell survival, tissue growth, and proliferation activities. It controls many genes that are involved in inflammation and thus is a key player in many inflammatory diseases. The elevation of NF-κB activators is associated with elevated mortality, especially in cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

Objective: To assess the association between coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination and female assisted reproduction outcomes through a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Data Sources: We searched Medline (OVID), EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and ClinicalTrials.gov on January 11, 2023, for original articles on assisted reproduction outcomes after COVID-19 vaccination.

Background: In December 2018, Michigan became the 10th state to legalize marijuana for adults. Since this law took effect, increased availability and use of cannabis in Michigan have led to increased emergency department (ED) visits associated with the drug's psychiatric effects.

Objectives: To describe cannabis-induced anxiety disorder's prevalence, clinical features, and disposition in a community-based study.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to investigate the prevalence of viral infections in children with Kawasaki disease (KD) and their potential link to coronary artery aneurysms (CAAs) or refractoriness to intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) treatment.
  • - Among 3189 articles reviewed, 18 studies focused on children with KD underwent viral testing, revealing an overall viral positivity rate of 30%, with rhinovirus being the most common (19%).
  • - Despite the frequent occurrence of viral infections in KD, the presence of these infections was not significantly associated with CAAs or the likelihood of refractoriness to IVIG.

The level of bioactive gibberellins (GAs) in plants is regulated partly by their inactivation, mainly by the action of GA 2-oxidases (GA2oxs). This study identified three new GA2ox genes in barley: HvGA2ox1, HvGA2ox3 and HvGA2ox6. Analysis of their nucleotide and putative amino acid sequences revealed that they share high sequence identity with other plant GA2oxs and their corresponding proteins.

Background: Our objective was to review the latest evidence on resuscitation care for maternal cardiac arrest (MCA) and gain expert consensus on best practices to inform an evidence-based curriculum.

Methods: We convened a multidisciplinary panel of stakeholders in MCA to develop an evidence-based simulation training, Obstetric Life Support™ (OBLS). To inform the learning objectives, we used a novel three-step process to achieve consensus on best practices for maternal resuscitation.

Background And Purpose: The optic nerve is surrounded by the extension of meningeal coverings of the brain. When the pressure in the cerebrospinal fluid increases, it causes a distention of the optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD), which allows the use of this measurement by ultrasonography (US) as a noninvasive surrogate of elevated intracranial pressure. However, ONSD measurements in the literature have exhibited significant heterogeneity, suggesting a need for consensus on ONSD image acquisition and measurement.
