Introduction: Hyporesponsiveness to erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs) in patients with anaemia of chronic kidney disease may lead to increased ESA doses to achieve target haemoglobin levels; however, elevated doses may be associated with increased mortality. Furthermore, patients with hyporesponsiveness to ESAs have poorer clinical outcomes than those who respond well to ESAs. Incidence and clinical characteristics of patients with ESA hyporesponsiveness were explored in a real-world setting.

The demographic profile of patients transitioning from chronic kidney disease to kidney replacement therapy is changing, with a higher prevalence of aging patients with multiple comorbidities such as diabetes mellitus and heart failure. Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of mortality in this population, exacerbated by the cardiovascular stress imposed by the HD procedure. The first year after transitioning to hemodialysis is associated with increased risks of hospitalization and mortality, particularly within the first 90-120 days, with greater vulnerability observed among the elderly.

Sustained fluid overload (FO) is considered a major cause of hypertension, heart failure, and mortality in patients with ESRD on maintenance hemodialysis. Background: Recently many publications have appeared about the new DNA virus, called transfusion transmitted virus (TT virus), first described in 1997. These are mainly about the virus epidemiology, gene sequences and the distribution of different genotypes.
