An indoor environment in a hospital building requires a high indoor air quality (IAQ) to overcome patients' risks of getting wound infections without interrupting the recovery process. However, several problems arose in obtaining a satisfactory IAQ, such as poor ventilation design strategies, insufficient air exchange, improper medical equipment placement and high door opening frequency. This paper presents an overview of various methods used for assessing the IAQ in hospital facilities, especially in an operating room, isolation room, anteroom, postoperative room, inpatient room and dentistry room.

Association of Chronic Pancreatitis Pain Features With Physical, Mental, and Social Health.

Background And Aims: Pain is a cardinal symptom of chronic pancreatitis (CP). Using Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) measures, we characterized physical and mental health and symptom profiles of a well-defined cohort of individuals with CP and compared them with control subjects. Among patients with CP, we also examined associations between pain (intensity, temporal nature) and PROMIS symptom profiles and the prevalence of clinically significant psychological comorbidities.

The implications and management of complex biliary injuries at a tertiary hepatobiliary specialty center.

Injuries of the biliary tract and complex injuries involving vascular and parenchymal tissue can be detrimental despite the improved use of laparoscopy. Complex biliary injuries are variable depending on the type of injury as well as patient and surgeon factors. We present four cases of complex biliary injuries at our tertiary referral center with hepatobiliary expertise: biliary stenosis with obstruction, double duct system anatomy, combined right hepatic arterial transection and biliary duct injury, and a complete pedicle injury.

This work tests the technical applicability of sewage sludge and isolated dead cells of Aeromasss hydrophyla and Branhamella spp for the elimination of inorganic pollutants such as Zn(II), Pb(II), Cd(II), and/or Cu(II) using synthetic wastewater with their initial concentrations of 100 mg/L, respectively. The sludge samples were collected from local sewage treatment plants. The effects of dose and pH on heavy metals removal were evaluated in batch studies and their removal performances were compared to those of previous studies.

This study describes the collection of landfill leachate from seven sites in different climatic zones of Sri Lanka and characterizes the landfills through the analyses of leachate quality. Methods: A retrospective study of all patients ≥18-years with nodular BE who underwent ESD + RFA between September 2015 and December 2020 at our tertiary center.

Bacteria in a hospital environment potentially cause hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), particularly in immunocompromised individuals. Treatments of HAIs with antibiotics, however, are ineffective due to the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ARB). This study aims to identify airborne bacteria in a tertiary hospital in Malaysia and screen for their resistance to commonly used broad-spectrum antibiotics.
