Late-Onset Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy Manifesting With De Novo Late-Onset Absence Status Epilepticus After COVID-19 Infection: A Case Report.

Herein, we present a case of idiopathic generalized epilepsy (IGE) manifesting as de novo late-onset absence status epilepticus (ASE) following mild coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). A woman in her 40s presented with persistent 3-5.5 Hz generalized spike-wave complexes (SWCs) on electroencephalography (EEG).

Simulators in urology resident's training in retrograde intrarenal surgery.

Purpose: To evaluate the impact of simulators on the training of urology residents in retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS).

Methods: The study involved training eight urology residents, using two artificial simulators; one developed by the Universidade Estadual do Pará, using three-dimensional printing technology, and the other one patented by the medical equipment manufacturer Boston Scientific The qualification of residents took place through a training course, consisting of an adaptation phase (S0), followed by three training sessions, with weekly breaks between them (S1, S2 and S3). Study members should carry out a RIRS in a standardized way, with step-by-step supervision by the evaluator using a checklist.

Precise Spectroscopy of the 3n and 3p Systems via the ^{3}H(t, ^{3}He)3n and ^{3}He(^{3}He, t)3p Reactions at Intermediate Energies.

To search for low-energy resonant structures in isospin T=3/2 three-body systems, we have performed the experiments ^{3}H(t,^{3}He)3n and ^{3}He(^{3}He,t)3p at intermediate energies. For the 3n experiment, we have newly developed a thick Ti-^{3}H target that has the largest tritium thickness among targets of this type ever made. The 3n experiment for the first time covered the momentum-transfer region as low as 15  MeV/c, which provides ideal conditions for producing fragile systems.

However, transplanted cells are immediately damaged and destroyed because of innate immune reactions provoked by thrombogenic inflammation, and patients need to take immunosuppressive drugs for the immunological regulation of allogeneic cells.

Severe cardiac and skeletal manifestations in DMD-edited microminipigs: an advanced surrogate for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is an intractable X-linked muscular dystrophy caused by mutations in the DMD gene. While many animal models have been used to study the disease, translating findings to humans has been challenging. Microminipigs, with their pronounced physiological similarity to humans and notably compact size amongst pig models, could offer a more representative model for human diseases.

Characterization of recombinant photoconverting green fluorescent Akanes.

Akanes are fluorescent proteins that have several fluorescence maxima. In this report, Akane1 and Akane3 from Scleronephthya gracillima were selected, successfully overexpressed in Escherichia coli and purified by affinity chromatography. Fluorescence spectra of the recombinant Akanes matured in darkness, or ambient light were found to have several fluorescence peaks.

Differentiation Capacity of Porcine Skeletal Muscle-Derived Stem Cells as Intermediate Species between Mice and Humans.

Large animal experiments are important for preclinical studies of regenerative stem cell transplantation therapy. Therefore, we investigated the differentiation capacity of pig skeletal muscle-derived stem cells (Sk-MSCs) as an intermediate model between mice and humans for nerve muscle regenerative therapy. Enzymatically extracted cells were obtained from green-fluorescence transgenic micro-mini pigs (GFP-Tg MMP) and sorted as CD34+/45- (Sk-34) and CD34-/45-/29+ (Sk-DN) fractions.

Effect of daily treadmill running exercise on masseter muscle nociception associated with social defeat stress in mice.

We investigated the effects of social defeat stress (SDS) and treadmill running on masseter muscle nociception, which was quantified by the orofacial formalin test and c-Fos and FosB immunoreactivities in the upper cervical spinal cord (C1/C2) region in male mice. After daily SDS or non-SDS conditioning for 10 days, SDS-conditioned mice were categorized into SDS-susceptible versus resilient mice. Several mice, including non-SDS-conditioned, SDS-susceptible, and resilient mice, were selected to assess masseter muscle nociception on Day 11.
