Introduction/aims: The standard procedure to establish reference values in a neuromuscular laboratory involves examining healthy controls, as nerve size varies with the population and muscle echo intensity (EI) is device-specific. We aimed to derive these reference values by extrapolation from a studied sample (the e-norms method), compare them with published reference values, and determine their diagnostic accuracy.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data from consecutive patients who underwent nerve and/or muscle ultrasound in our ultrasound laboratory, which is a tertiary referral center for neuromuscular diseases in Southern Poland in the years 2018-2023.
According to the ESC guidelines, cangrelor may be considered in P2Y12-inhibitor-naïve acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The aim of this review is to summarize available evidence on the optimal maintenance therapy with P2Y12 receptor inhibitor after cangrelor. Transitioning from cangrelor to a thienopyridine, but not ticagrelor, can be associated with a drug-drug interaction (DDI); therefore, a ticagrelor loading dose (LD) can be given any time before, during, or at the end of a cangrelor infusion, while a LD of clopidogrel or prasugrel should be administered at the time the infusion of cangrelor ends or within 30 minutes before the end of infusion in the case of a LD of prasugrel.

Some high risk patients after de-escalation may require antithrombotic therapy prolonged over 12 months. With the current guideline recommended strategies, there are some doubts and uncertainties with respect to the transition period.

Objectives: Our goal was to determine if the levels of thyroid hormones in saliva can accurately reflect a person's thyroid status and if they consistently correlate with the levels of the same hormones in the blood.
Design: We conducted a cross-sectional study.
Background: Patients hospitalized due to Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are still burdened with high risk of death. The aim of this study was to create a risk score predicting in-hospital mortality in COVID-19 patients on hospital admission.
Methods: Independent mortality predictors identified in multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to build the 123 COVID SCORE.
Calix[n]arenes, macrocycles constituted of 4-8 phenol moieties linked through methylene bridges, are stable molecules that can be selectively functionalised at the upper or lower rim. It has already been demonstrated that calixarene derivatives can be biologically or pharmacologically active compounds. More recently, suitably functionalised calixarenes and calixarene analogues (dihomooxacalixarenes, thiacalixarenes, calix[4]resorcinols, azacalixarenes, calixpyrroles, and pillarenes) were found to act as anticancer agents, at least in in vitro assays.

PP and hydrological parameters were measured at 28 sampling stations in Kongsfjorden and 17 in Hornsund, with the locations of "Glacier," "Inner," and "Outer" zones defined to reflect the varying influence of glacial meltwater. Our study revealed spatial and temporal variability in PP, both at the surface and within the water column with very high depth resolution.

On one hand, the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare could prevent it; on the other hand, questions raise regarding the quality and safety of the medical information provided. As laryngeal cancer is a prevalent head and neck malignancy, this study aims to evaluate the utility and safety of three large language models (LLMs) as sources of patient information about laryngeal cancer.

To assess the auditory perception ability, two parameters were measured; word recognition score (WRS) and sound intensity at maximal WRS.

It is an adenosine triphosphate analog that selectively, directly, and reversibly binds to the platelet P2Y12 receptors exerting its antiaggregatory effect. Cangrelor is characterized by linear, dose-dependent pharmacokinetics and rapid onset of action providing potent platelet inhibition exceeding 90%.

The Feo system is regarded as the most important bacterial Fe(II) acquisition system, being one of the key virulence factors, especially in anaerobic conditions. Located in the inner membrane of Gram-negative bacteria, FeoB protein transports Fe(II) from the periplasm to the cytoplasm.

Material And Methods: Two groups of children hospitalized in a reference center for rheumatology, newly diagnosed with JIA and suspected of foot involvement in the course of JIA were included in this retrospective study. In the first group of 47 patients aged 1-18 years, the imaging was restricted to US.
Objective: Vitamin D plays an important role during pregnancy. The aim was to compare vitamin D status in a group of singleton (SP) and twin pregnancies (TP) using two diagnostic methods: chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) and liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).
Design: This is a cross-sectional study.
Polysaccharides are essential components with diverse functions in living organisms and find widespread applications in various industries. They serve as food additives, stabilizers, thickeners, and fat substitutes in the food industry, while also contributing to dietary fiber for improved digestion and gut health. Plant-based polysaccharides are utilized in paper, textiles, wound dressings, biodegradable packaging, and tissue regeneration.

Excessive platelet reactivity plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of acute myocardial infarction. Today, the vast majority of patients presenting with acute coronary syndromes qualify for invasive treatment strategy and thus require fast and efficient platelet inhibition. Since 2008, in cases of ST-elevation myocardial infarction, the European Society of Cardiology guidelines have recommended pretreatment with a P2Y inhibitor.

The limited efficacy and high cost of adjuvant therapies in the treatment of bladder cancer prompt research on new drugs which could replace them. In vitro studies have established that antibiotics can have a cytostatic and cytotoxic effect on urinary bladder cancer cells.
