Implementation strategies: lessons learned during an e-learning intervention to improve dietary behaviors and feeding practices in early childhood education and care.

Background: Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) centers play an important role in fostering healthy dietary habits. The Nutrition Now project focusing on improving dietary habits during the first 1000 days of life. Central to the project is the implementation of an e-learning resource aimed at promoting feeding practices among staff and healthy dietary behaviours for children aged 0-3 years in ECEC.

Implementing an early-life nutrition intervention through primary healthcare: staff perspectives.

Background: Nutrition interventions targeting early childhood can be cost-effective and may provide lifelong, intergenerational benefits. From October 2022 to April 2023 the Nutrition Now (NN) e-learning resource was implemented within Early Childhood Education and Care centres and the Maternal and Child Healthcare Centre (MCHC) in a southern Norwegian municipality. As part of the NN project, the present study aims to explore the MCHC staff's experiences with implementing the NN resource, to gain insights into measures important to scale up digital early-life nutrition interventions.

Laboratory Assessment of the Effects of AGA@4life Multidisciplinary Intervention on the Inflammatory Profile, MMPs, and TIMPs in a Geriatric Population.

In recent years, the world's aging population has increased, contributing to the development of age-related pathologies, which have been aggravated by physical inactivity and excessive fat intake. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of implementing a nutritional program (control group-CG) combined with exercise (intervention group-IG) on the inflammatory profile, MMPs, and TIMPs in a group of 34 elderly participants (IG, = 18; CG, = 16). Participants underwent a full multidisciplinary diagnostic evaluation (T0), with the gathering of clinical information and biochemical and hematological determinations being re-evaluated eight weeks later (T1).

Scaling up evidence-based digital early life nutrition interventions in a county setting: an implementation trial - protocol for Phase 2 of the project.

Background: Few effective health interventions transition from smaller efficacy or effectiveness studies to real-world implementation at scale, representing a gap between evidence and practice. Recognising this, we have developed - a tailored digital resource building on four efficacious dietary interventions, aiming to improve nutrition in the important first 1,000 days of life. targets and guides expectant parents and parents of 0-2 year olds, serves as a reliable source of evidence-based information for midwives and public health nurses at maternal and child healthcare (MCH) centres, and offers pedagogical tools for early childhood education and care (ECEC) staff.

Continuous Production of Dietetic Structured Lipids Using Crude Acidic Olive Pomace Oils.

Crude olive pomace oil (OPO) is a by-product of olive oil extraction. In this study, low-calorie structured triacylglycerols (TAGs) were produced by acidolysis of crude OPO with medium-chain fatty acids (caprylic, C8:0; capric, C10:0) or interesterification with their ethyl ester forms (C8EE, C10EE). These new TAGs present long-chain fatty acids (L) at position -2 and medium-chain fatty acids (M) at positions -1,3 (MLM).

Short Peripheral Venous Catheters Contamination and the Dangers of Bloodstream Infection in Portugal: An Analytic Study.

Peripheral venous catheters (PVCs) are the most used vascular access devices in the world. However, failure rates remain considerably high, with complications such as PVC-related infections posing significant threats to patients' well-being. In Portugal, studies evaluating the contamination of these vascular medical devices and characterizing the associated microorganisms are scarce and lack insight into potential virulence factors.

The evolution of the HIV-1 protease folding stability.

The evolution of structural proteins is generally constrained by the folding stability. However, little is known about the particular capacity of viral proteins to accommodate mutations that can potentially affect the protein stability and, in general, the evolution of the protein stability over time. As an illustrative model case, here, we investigated the evolution of the stability of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) protease (PR), which is a common HIV-1 drug target, under diverse evolutionary scenarios that include (1) intra-host virus evolution in a cohort of seventy-five patients sampled over time, (2) intra-host virus evolution sampled before and after specific PR-based treatments, and (3) inter-host evolution considering extant and ancestral (reconstructed) PR sequences from diverse HIV-1 subtypes.

The impact of single-cell genomics on the field of mycobacterial infection.

Genome sequencing projects of humans and other organisms reinforced that the complexity of biological systems is largely attributed to the tight regulation of gene expression at the epigenome and RNA levels. As a consequence, plenty of technological developments arose to increase the sequencing resolution to the cell dimension creating the single-cell genomics research field. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) is leading the advances in this topic and comprises a vast array of different methodologies.

PMMA Microcapsules for the Inactivation of SARS-CoV-2.

Surface disinfection currently plays a decisive role in the epidemiological situation caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. However, most disinfection products available on the market have a high evaporation rate and only an immediate action and not continuous, creating the need for a high frequency of disinfection. To overcome this limitation, in the present work, poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) microcapsules were developed with an active agent (hydrogen peroxide) encapsulated, which has the ability to inactivate/neutralize the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
