This randomized, controlled, and double-blinded clinical trial evaluated the clinical performance of dental bleaching performed with 6% hydrogen peroxide containing TiO-N nanoparticles exposed to blue and violet activation lights. Forty volunteers, selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, were randomly distributed into four experimental groups (n = 10): 35% hydrogen peroxide (PH35)-control; 6% hydrogen peroxide (PH6) containing TiO-N nanoparticles without light activation; PH6 activated with a blue LED (PH6A); and PH6 activated with a violet LED (PH6V). The three bleaching sessions consisted of 3 consecutive 16-min applications of the bleaching agent described for each group.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the esthetic perception of patients at 6 months after bleaching of non-vital teeth with 35% of hydrogen peroxide and 37% of carbamide peroxide using a walking bleach technique. We also assessed psychosocial impacts as well as the clinical effectiveness and stability of the color change.

Objective: A non-destructive and real-time bioluminescence (BL) assay was used to determine the utility of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) treatments mediated by methylene blue (MB) and laser irradiation (LI) against intact biofilms that are capable of producing caries (cariogenic). The efficacy of antibacterial photodynamic treatments has been currently determined by using either viable colony counts (VCC) or metabolic assays (Alamar Blue) that were demonstrated to have critical limitations when used on microcolony-forming bacteria such as Streptococcus mutans.

Bacterial cellulose (BC) and silk fibroin (SF) are natural biopolymers successfully applied in tissue engineering and biomedical fields. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of 2 different surface polishing procedures-glazing and manual polishing-on the roughness of ceramics processed by computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) and conventional systems (stratification technique). Eighty ceramic discs (diameter: 8 mm, thickness: 1 mm) were prepared and divided among 8 groups (n = 10) according to the type of ceramic disc and polishing method: 4 GZ and 4 MP. The present work seeks to evaluate the biocompatibility of experimental glass ionomer cements (GIC) prepared from niobium-calcium fluoro-alumino-silicate glass powder and two commercial GICs. The GICs were implanted into the subcutaneous connective tissue of sixty rats. Objectives: To investigate the effects of adhesion technique using different contemporary adhesive systems on the cuspal movement in class II composite restorations in human premolar teeth.

Methods: Human premolar teeth were prepared with class II cavities and then restored with composite and etch-and-rinse (Adper Scotchbond Multi Purpose and Adper Single Bond) or self-etch (Clearfil SE Bond and Clearfil S3 Bond) adhesive systems under different bonding techniques (total bonding and selective bonding). The influence of an intermediate layer of flowable composite was also evaluated.
