Cytochromes P450 2C8 and 3A Catalyze the Metabolic Activation of the Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor Masitinib.

Masitinib is a small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor under investigation for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, mastocytosis, and COVID-19. Hepatotoxicity has been reported in some patients while taking masitinib. The liver injury is thought to involve hepatic metabolism of masitinib by cytochrome P450 (P450) enzymes to form chemically reactive, potentially toxic metabolites.

Thermodynamic Surface Analyses to Inform Biofilm Resistance.

Biofilms are the habitat of 95% of bacteria successfully protecting bacteria from many antibiotics. However, inhibiting biofilm formation is difficult in that it is a complex system involving the physical and chemical interaction of both substrate and bacteria. Focusing on the substrate surface and potential interactions with bacteria, we examined both physical and chemical properties of substrates coated with a series of phenyl acrylate monomer derivatives.

[Multicenter retrospective analysis of the patients with sarcoidosis with a 10 year interval in observations].

Comparison of the state of 83 patients with histologically confirmed sarcoidosis observed with a 10 year interval revealed remission in 47% of the cases. The main factors having negative effect on prognosis of the disease included extrapulmonary symptoms, the use ofcorticosteroids (at all stages, especially at stage I and in Lofgren syndrome) and antituberculosis drugs, positive TB test. Risk factors of relapses were stage II sarcoidosis, the use of systemic corticosteroids in patients with Lofgren syndrome and antituberculosis drugs, initially low FEV1/FVLC ratio and the number of lymphocytes in peripheral blood.

The paper analyzes cases of familial sarcoidosis that have occurred in the Ryazan regional tuberculosis dispensary in the past 10 years. Certain patterns in the course of the disease have been revealed in blood relatives.

[Annual time course of hemostatic changes in patients with respiratory sarcoidosis treated with glucocorticoids].

The time course of changes in the hemostasiological parameters of peripheral venous blood was estimated in patients with different forms of respiratory sarcoidosis treated with glucocorticoids. A tendency for hypercoagulation was found at the onset of the disease. During therapy the trend was towards hypocoagulation in most patients.

The role of social and cognitive processes in children's adjustment to community violence.

This study examined associations of community violence exposure and psychological well-being among 99 8-12 year old children (M = 10.7 years) using home interviews with mothers and children. Both moderators and mediators of the links between violence exposure and well-being were tested.
