Background: In baseball pitches, the forkball requires a special grip, pinching the ball between the second and third fingers to achieve the resulting breaking ball trajectory. We hypothesized that the forkball grip would have a substantial impact on the hardness of the flexor digitorum superficialis. The aim was to quantify and clarify the change in the hardness of the flexor digitorum superficialis due to the forkball grip.

Effect of Film Morphology on Electrical Conductivity of PEDOT:PSS.

Commercially available formulations of the popular conductive polymer, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) are aqueous dispersions that require the addition of secondary dopants such as dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) or ethylene glycol (EG) for fabricated films to have the desired levels of conductivity. Clevios F HC Solar, a formulation of PEDOT:PSS produced by Heraeus, GmbH, achieves over 500 S/cm without these secondary dopants. This work studies whether secondary dopants such as DMSO have any additional effect on this type of PEDOT:PSS.

Effectiveness of kinesio taping for chronic stroke patients: a systematic review with meta-analysis.

Purpose: Kinesio taping (KT) is an approach that has been used in the rehabilitation of patients with chronic stroke. The aim of this review is to evaluate the effectiveness of KT alone or combined with other interventions for patients with chronic stroke.

However, these nuclear bodies' function in controlling gene expression remains elusive. Here, we demonstrate that the nuclear bodies of NUP98::HOXA9 and SET::NUP214 promote the condensation of mixed lineage leukemia 1 (MLL1), a histone methyltransferase essential for the maintenance of HOX gene expression.

[A Case of Transverse Colon Cancer Complicated by Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis].

A man in his 50s had undergone steroid therapy for eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis(EGPA). Since an examination for malignant tumors revealed type 0-Ⅰsp(cT1aN0M0)and type 2(cT2N0M0)lesions in the proximal and mid- transverse colon, respectively, he was referred to our department. Endoscopic resection was performed on the proximal lesion.

[A Case of Extramural Growth-Type Ileocecal Colon Cancer].

A woman in her 80s was diagnosed with an abdominal mass during physical examination. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography(CT)revealed a tumor with contrast enhancement outside the ileocecal region of the intestine, and the ileocolic artery penetrated the tumor. No tumor was detected by colonoscopy.

Pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas (PGLs) are rare non-epithelial neuroendocrine neoplasms of the adrenal medulla and extra-adrenal paraganglia respectively. Duodenal PGL is quite rare and there are only two previous reports. Herein, we report a case of multiple catecholamines (CAs)-producing PGLs in the middle ear, retroperitoneum, and duodenum, and review the literature of duodenal PGLs.

Background: Two-dimensional digital subtraction angiography (2D-DSA) and conventional three-dimensional digital subtraction angiography (3D-DSA) are used for the detailed analysis of dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF). When treated with immunosuppressive drugs, two potentially lethal conditions, hyperinfection and dissemination, may develop in asymptomatic carriers of this parasite. We report the development of strongyloidiasis during treatment of polymyositis with glucocorticoids plus rituximab (RTX).

IgG4-related brain pseudotumor mimicking CNS lymphoma. A case report.

Here, we report a case of IgG4-related brain pseudotumor (IgG4-BP) in a 39-year-old woman, mimicking central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma. She presented with headache, fever, and fatigue. Her medical history was notable for appearance of a tumefactive brain lesion seven years before.

Surveillance for Patients with Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma after Complete Surgical Resection as Primary Treatment: A Single-Center Retrospective Cohort Study.

Background: The surveillance methods oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) patients may be chosen by considering the risk for recurrence, and it is important to establish appropriate methods during the period in which latent/dormant cancer cells become more apparent. To investigate the appropriate surveillance of patients with OSCC based on the individual risk for recurrence and/or metastasis, we performed a retrospective cohort study after the complete surgical resection of OSCC as the primary treatment.

Methods: The study was performed in 324 patients with OSCC who had been primarily treated with surgery from 2007 to 2020 at our hospital.

Usefulness of a Precursory Small Epigastric Midline Incision during Laparoscopic Right Hemicolectomy.

Objectives: During laparoscopic right hemicolectomy, many surgeons make a small incision near the umbilicus after the routine intraperitoneal operation. In this study, we created a precursory small epigastric incision at the center of a line connecting the xiphoid process and umbilicus (the M point, an empirically determined position) at the start of surgery prior to laparoscopic manipulation. This study aimed to determine whether the small incision at the center of the M point was a suitable position through which the right hemicolon is extracted.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate whether default mode network (DMN) connectivity and brain white matter integrity at baseline were associated with severe cognitive impairments at baseline and poor cognitive outcomes after shunt placement in patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH).

Methods: Twenty consecutive patients with iNPH whose symptoms were followed for 6 months after shunt placement and 10 healthy controls (HCs) were enrolled. DMN connectivity and brain white matter integrity at baseline in the patients with iNPH and HCs were detected by using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with independent component analysis and diffusion tensor imaging, respectively, and these MRI indexes were compared between the patients with iNPH and HCs.
