Diaphragmatic Hernia Repair in Adult Patients: A Retrospective Institutional Experience.

Objectives Diaphragmatic hernias (DHs) in adults are an uncommon condition in which general characteristics and treatment strategies are poorly described. The objective of this study was to describe our institutional experience in the surgical repair of DH in adult patients. Methods A cross-sectional review was conducted on adult patients with DH who were diagnosed and surgically treated between 2012 and 2023 at the Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Respiratorias in Mexico City.

Cognitive Impairment Induced by Gestational Diabetes: The Role of Oxidative Stress.

Background: Cognitive impairment is defined as a neurological condition that alters multiple cerebral functions such as reasoning, memory, concentration, and association, among others. It has found to be widely correlated with several factors such as oxidative stress. The latter could be induced by numerous pathological conditions characterized by increased levels of free radicals and decreased levels of antioxidants.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Pituitary Apoplexy, A True Endocrine Emergency.

Pituitary apoplexy (PA) is a clinical syndrome resulting from a hemorrhagic infarction of the pituitary gland. It is characterized by the sudden onset of visual disturbances, nausea, vomiting, headache and occasionally, signs of meningeal irritation and an altered mental status. The exact pathogenesis of PA remains to be elucidated, although tumor overgrowth of its blood supply remains the most popular theory.
