[Psychological distress and unsatisfied information needs in heart failure patients and ventricular dysfunction without previously diagnosed psychiatric disorder. Cross-sectional study in a national reference center].

Introduction: Heart failure (HF) is a chronic disease that acutely and progressively reduces physical functionality. The patient commonly suffers from intermittent relapses that increase the likelihood of comorbidities such as chronic insomnia, cognitive impairment, alterations in sexual response, psychological distress, symptoms of anxiety and depression disorder, and decreased self-care behaviors. The objective of this study was to identify the main needs for psychological support in patients with HF.

Clinimetric analysis of heart failure in Mexican patients.

Heart failure (HF) is a syndrome characterized basically by a circulatory deficit to cover the metabolic and energetic demands of the body. This condition has a broad spectrum in its clinical presentation, affects the quality of life significantly, impacts the family/social environment, and generates a great demand for health services. The purpose of this research is to report the situational diagnose of patients with HF in Mexico.

[Short-stay programme in cardiac surgery. Analysis of short-term outcomes of 533 cases in five years].

Background: In 1999 so as to decrease the list of cardiac surgery the "fast track" program was started for patients with very mortality low risk. In 2004, this program was extended to moderate risk patients.

Objectives: A prospective, descriptive study to evaluate the clinical and demographic characteristics of "fast track" program patients for elective cardiac surgery.

[Usefulness of Levosimendan in patients with ventricular dysfunction before surgery].

Unlabelled: The purpose of this work was to observe the hemodynamic stability on the first 24 hours in 4 patients with ventricular dysfunction (Ejected Fraction < 40 %), considered of high surgical risk, in which 24 at 48 hr before the surgery received an infusion of Levosimendan for 24 hours. This 4 patients was male, with age 55.5+/-7.
