  • Diagnosing brachial plexopathy in cancer patients is challenging due to factors like tumor recurrence, metastasis, and effects of radiation therapy, which can lead to serious misdiagnoses.
  • A case study involving a 29-year-old female with a history of nasopharyngeal carcinoma revealed that her brachial plexopathy was caused by a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) infiltrating the brachial plexus, leading to cord compression.

Introduction: Hypothyroidism reduces the recruitment, maturation, and activity of bone cells, decreasing bone resorption and formation. Several investigations have reported that T4 replacement therapy is associated with a significant decrease in bone mineral density in various skeletal parts, while others have failed to corroborate these results. The present study describes both a literature review and our own experience with dental implants in patients with hypothyroidism undergoing T4 replacement therapy.

Intellectual disability (ID) is a measurable phenotypic consequence of genetic and environmental factors. In this study, we prospectively assessed the diagnostic yield of genomic tools (molecular karyotyping, multi-gene panel and exome sequencing) in a cohort of 337 ID subjects as a first-tier test and compared it with a standard clinical evaluation performed in parallel. Standard clinical evaluation suggested a diagnosis in 16% of cases (54/337) but only 70% of these (38/54) were subsequently confirmed.
