Background: Patients with heart failure could have a high prevalence of depression which may increase the risk of hospitalization. So this study is to estimate the prevalence of depression among patients attending heart failure clinics, and determine whether depression increases the risk of hospitalization in patients with heart failure.
Methods: In this analytical cross-sectional study, we interviewed patients with heart failure and identified those with depression; the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 was used to estimate the prevalence of depression and assess clinical outcomes, including the risk of hospitalization.
