Atlas of Gray Matter Volume Differences Across Psychiatric Conditions: A Systematic Review With a Novel Meta-Analysis That Considers Co-Occurring Disorders.

Background: Regional gray matter volume (GMV) differences between individuals with mental disorders and comparison participants may be confounded by co-occurring disorders. To disentangle disorder-specific GMV correlates, we conducted a large-scale multidisorder meta-analysis using a novel approach that explicitly models co-occurring disorders.

Methods: We systematically reviewed voxel-based morphometry studies indexed in PubMed and Scopus up to January 2023 that compared adults with major mental disorders (anorexia nervosa, schizophrenia spectrum, anxiety, bipolar, major depressive, obsessive-compulsive, and posttraumatic stress disorders plus attention-deficit/hyperactivity, autism spectrum, and borderline personality disorders) with comparison participants.

We then compared performance of PCA and clustering on identical sample to identify which methodology was better in capturing links between brain and clinical measures.

Conversely, the redox chemistry of the Ce-counterparts is more limited, because of the often-unclear Cu/Cu and Ce/Ce pairs behavior. Herein, we studied a novel Cu single-site catalyst supported on a defective Ce-MOF, Cu/UiO-67(Ce), as a catalyst for the CO oxidation reaction.

Study protocol - elucidating the neural correlates of functional remediation for older adults with bipolar disorder.

Introduction: Beyond mood abnormalities, bipolar disorder (BD) includes cognitive impairments that worsen psychosocial functioning and quality of life. These deficits are especially severe in older adults with BD (OABD), a condition expected to represent most individuals with BD in the upcoming years. Restoring the psychosocial functioning of this population will thus soon represent a public health priority.

The aim of this study was to evaluate baseline plasma cortisol concentration and its concentration during hypoglycemic crisis in fasting tests (FT) performed in our center. Secondarily, the aim was to establish the relationship between baseline cortisol and the time of evolution of EHH.

Transdiagnostic risk of mental disorders in offspring of affected parents: a meta-analysis of family high-risk and registry studies.

The offspring of parents with mental disorders are at increased risk for developing mental disorders themselves. The risk to offspring may extend transdiagnostically to disorders other than those present in the parents. The literature on this topic is vast but mixed.

Altered Temporal Dynamics of Resting-State Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Adolescent-Onset First-Episode Psychosis.

Background: Dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) alterations have been reported in patients with adult-onset and chronic psychosis. We sought to examine whether such abnormalities were also observed in patients with first episode, adolescent-onset psychosis (AOP), in order to rule out potential effects of chronicity and protracted antipsychotic treatment exposure. AOP has been suggested to have less diagnostic specificity compared to psychosis with onset in adulthood and occurs during a period of neurodevelopmental changes in brain functional connections.

The estimated distribution of autochthonous leishmaniasis by Leishmania infantum in Europe in 2005-2020.

Background: This study describes the spatial and temporal distribution between 2005 and 2020 of human and animal leishmaniasis by Leishmania infantum in European countries reporting autochthonous cases, and highlights potential activities to improve disease control.

Methodology/principal Findings: It was based on a review of the scientific literature and data reported by the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) and the Ministries of Health, including hospital discharges in some countries. Autochthonous infections were reported in the scientific literature from 22 countries, including 13 and 21 countries reporting human and animal infections, respectively.

Liquid crystal doped photopolymer micro-droplets printed by a simple and clean laser-induced forward transfer process.

We print a tunable photopolymer (photopolymer dispersed liquid crystal -PDLC), using the laser-induced direct transfer technique without absorber layer, which was a challenge for this technique given the low absorption and high viscosity of PDLC, and which had not been achieved so far to our knowledge. This makes the LIFT printing process faster and cleaner and achieves a high-quality printed droplet (aspheric profile and low roughness). A femtosecond laser was needed to reach sufficiently peak energies to induce nonlinear absorption and eject the polymer onto a substrate.

Effect of high-volume insecticide spraying on sand fly vectors in household gardens in Spain.

This study investigated the efficacy of high-volume spraying with the adulticide α-cypermethrin alone and in combination with the larvicide diflubenzuron on the density of sand flies in gardens of three detached households in periurban areas in southeast Spain. Treatments were applied four times between June and August 2016, and four nearby sites, two households and two non-urbanized sites, were untreated controls. The number of sand flies collected between May and October 2016 using sticky interception and light attraction traps, was 4446 specimens.

Sustainable Synthesis of Silicon Precursors Coupled with Hydrogen Delivery Based on Circular Economy via Molecular Cobalt-Based Catalysts.

The development of a circular economy is a key target to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and create more sustainable processes. Concerning hydrogen as an energy vector, the use of liquid organic hydrogen carriers is a promising strategy, but most of them present limitations for hydrogen release, such as harsh reaction conditions, poor recyclability, and low-value byproducts. Herein, we present a novel sustainable methodology to produce value-added silicon precursors and concomitant hydrogen via dehydrogenative coupling by using an air- and water-stable cobalt-based catalyst synthesized from cheap and commercially available starting materials.

Anterior uveitis and vasculitis in primary infection with VZV in a diabetic patient.

We present a case of ocular involvement in the context of a varicella zoster virus primary infection, in a 30-year-old man with type 1 diabetes. The ophthalmological examination revealed unilateral anterior uveitis resistant to topical treatment, which was complicated by association of vitritis and onset of retinal vasculitis diagnosed by angiography fluorescein. Herpetic eye involvement was confirmed by anterior chamber PCR for varicella- zoster virus.

Pharmacological targeting of glutamatergic neurons within the brainstem for weight reduction.

Food intake and body weight are tightly regulated by neurons within specific brain regions, including the brainstem, where acute activation of dorsal raphe nucleus (DRN) glutamatergic neurons expressing the glutamate transporter Vglut3 (DRN) drive a robust suppression of food intake and enhance locomotion. Activating Vglut3 neurons in DRN suppresses food intake and increases locomotion, suggesting that modulating the activity of these neurons might alter body weight. Here, we show that DRN neurons project to the lateral hypothalamus (LHA), a canonical feeding center that also reduces food intake.

Chiral Ligands Based on Binaphthyl Scaffolds for Pd-Catalyzed Enantioselective C-H Activation/Cycloaddition Reactions.

We report the first examples of the use of a new class of ligands (NOBINAc) for performing asymmetric C-H activations using palladium catalysts. These ligands combine the axial chirality of binaphthyl scaffolds with the bifunctional and bidentate coordination properties of mono-N-protected amino acids (MPAAs), which are well-known to favor Pd-promoted C-H activations via concerted metalation-deprotonation mechanisms. We demonstrate that our new ligands enable substantially higher enantioselectivities than MPAAs in the assembly of 2-benzazepines through formal (5 + 2) cycloadditions between homobenzyltriflamides or -methylbenzyltriflamides and allenes.
