Non-canonical nucleic acid structures possess an ability to interact selectively with proteins, thereby exerting influence over various intracellular processes. Numerous studies indicate that genomic G-quadruplexes and i-motifs are involved in the regulation of transcription. These structures are formed temporarily during the unwinding of the DNA double helix; and their direct determination is a rather difficult task.

In this work, the interaction of a series of N-reacetylated oligochitosans (RA-CHI) having M of 10-12 kDa and differing in the degree of acetylation (DA 19, 24, and 40 %) with bovine serum albumin (BSA) in alkalescent media is described in first. It is shown that RA-CHI forms soluble complexes with BSA in solutions with pH 7.

Objective: To study the relationship of the parameters of immunity and systemic inflammation with the structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) parameters in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and pre-MCI undergoing neurocognitive rehabilitation to search for candidate markers of its effectiveness.
Material And Methods: The main group included 49 patients, aged ≥60 years, with MCI and pre-MCI with memory impairment, who underwent a course of neurorehabilitation for 5 weeks. The control group included 19 volunteers of similar age with a total MoCA score of ≥25, who did not have cognitive impairment and immuno-inflammatory disorders.
Regulatory cystathionine β-synthase (CBS) domains are widespread in proteins; however, difficulty in structure determination prevents a comprehensive understanding of the underlying regulation mechanism. Tetrameric microbial inorganic pyrophosphatase containing such domains (CBS-PPase) is allosterically inhibited by AMP and ADP and activated by ATP and cell alarmones diadenosine polyphosphates. Each CBS-PPase subunit contains a pair of CBS domains but binds cooperatively to only one molecule of the mono-adenosine derivatives.

The difficulty in obtaining structural data for such proteins is ascribed to their unusual flexibility and propensity to form higher-order oligomeric structures. In this study, we deleted the most movable domain from the catalytic part of a CBS domain-containing bacterial inorganic pyrophosphatase (CBS-PPase) and characterized the deletion variant both structurally and functionally.

The alloy's genesis involved levitation melting within an argon atmosphere, presenting two distinct states for analysis: the initial, post-manufacturing state and the state subsequent to HPT treatment. The original alloy featured a composition comprising a singular A2 phase with a bcc lattice and two Laves phases, C15 and C14.

It is also known as a good radical scavenger but its participation in electron flow through the ETC makes it impossible to use CytC as a radical sensor. To solve this problem, a series of mutants were constructed with substitutions of Lys residues in the universal binding site (UBS) which interact electrostatically with negatively charged Asp and Glu residues at the binding sites of CytC partners, bc1 complex and CcO.

The CS-DNA binding isotherm was well approximated by the McGhee-von Hippel model suggesting the binding mechanism to be a cooperative attachment of interacting CS ligands to the DNA matrix.

It is shown that the formation of polyelectrolyte complexes (PEC) can occur in the pH range of 6-8, while this pair of polyelectrolytes loses the ability to complexation upon transition to a more alkaline medium. The revealed dependence of the observed enthalpy of interaction on the ionization enthalpy of the buffer indicates the participation of proton transfer from the buffer substance to chitosan and its additional ionization in the binding process.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFImaging through turbulence has been the subject of many research papers in a variety of fields, including defence, astronomy, earth observations, and medicine. The main goal of such research is usually to recover the original, undisturbed image, in which the impact of spatially dependent blurring induced by the phase modulation of the light wavefront is removed. The number of turbulence-disturbed image databases available online is small, and the datasets usually contain repeating types of ground objects (cars, buildings, ships, chessboard patterns).

Certain bacterial and archaeal mPPases can in parallel transport Na via a hypothetical "billiard-type" mechanism, also involving the hydrolysis-generated proton. Here, we present the functional evidence supporting this coupling mechanism.

It is shown that in the weakly alkaline medium (pH 7.4), RA-CHI/SDS interaction is exothermic and cooperative.

Unlabelled: The deterioration of the demographic situation and the public health problem in Russia in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries has assumed menacing proportions. In this regard, the need to improve the health care system, the formation of a culture of health, and the responsibility of citizens for the preservation of health and high performance has become apparent.
Objective: Design and development of a system for remote monitoring and improvement of health reserves and performance of an individual and the whole population based on the prenosological examination, the numerical assessment of body systems reserves, and implementation of adequate individual health improvement programs.
Introduction: Renal abscesses are relatively rare in children, but they can lead to prolonged hospital stay and life-threatening complications. Scrutiny of the literature over the past two decades indicates the absence of a unified tactic for the treatment of purulent-destructive forms of pyelonephritis in children, while more and more articles are appearing in terms of a low -key approach to the treatment of renal abscess in children.
Materials And Methods: From 2005 to 2019, we treated 59 children with the renal abscess.
Analysis of the frequency of karyotypes and chromosomal rearrangements in the distributional ranges of four metacentric races of Linnaeus, 1758 has revealed features that are not typical for polymorphic populations of this species. The frequency of the acrocentric karyotype and heterozygotes for fusion of acrocentric chromosomes turned out to be significantly higher than expected in case of random crossing. As an explanation for the unusual polymorphism, it has been suggested that metacentric races may hybridize with acrocentric populations that remained from the ancient chromosomal form.

It was demonstrated that, although there was no complete reproductive isolation between the species under consideration, the gene flow was considerably limited. These data testify to the established reliable reproductive barriers between the common shrew and Caucasian shrew.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA quarter of prokaryotic Family II inorganic pyrophosphatases (PPases) contain a regulatory insert comprised of two cystathionine β-synthase (CBS) domains and one DRTGG domain in addition to the two catalytic domains that form canonical Family II PPases. The CBS domain-containing PPases (CBS-PPases) are allosterically activated or inhibited by adenine nucleotides that cooperatively bind to the CBS domains. Here we use chemical cross-linking and analytical ultracentrifugation to show that CBS-PPases from Desulfitobacterium hafniense and four other bacterial species are active as 200-250-kDa homotetramers, which seems unprecedented among the four PPase families.
