Saric, J, Lisica, D, Orlic, I, Grgic, J, Krieger, JW, Vuk, S, and Schoenfeld, BJ. Resistance training frequencies of 3 and 6 times per week produce similar muscular adaptations in resistance-trained men. J Strength Cond Res 33(7S): S122-S129, 2019-We examined the effects of resistance training (RT) frequency performed 3 times per week (RT3) vs.

Cells that produce the cementum are named cementoblasts and they posses some unique characteristics, which differentiates them from osteoblasts. Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are crucial regulators of both bone and tooth formation.

The precise mechanism how bone morphogenetic protein-7 (BMP7) induces differentiation and mineralization of cementoblasts remains undetermined.

To further elucidate the underlying mechanisms of new bone formation following systemic application of BMPs, we conducted gene expression profiling experiments using bone samples of oophrectomised mice treated with BMP-6. Gene set enrichment analysis revealed enrichment of insulin-like growth factor-I and epidermal growth factor related pathways in animals treated with BMP-6.

To further elucidate the underlying mechanisms of decreased bone formation and increased bone resorption following OVX, we conducted gene expression profiling experiments using bone samples of ovariectomized C57BL/6J mice. Following OVX, genes involved in immune response, cell cycle regulation, growth, apoptosis and bone resorption were upregulated, while genes that are important for regular cell processes, mitosis, metabolism of carbohydrates, extracellular matrix structure, angiogenesis, skeletal development and morphogenesis were downregulated.

In the nephrotoxic mercury chloride (HgCl(2)) rat model of acute kidney failure systemically administered EP4 agonist reduced the serum creatinine values and increased the survival rate. Although the EP2 or the EP2/4 agonist did not change the serum creatinine values, the EP2 receptor agonist increased the survival rate.

We have previously demonstrated that demineralized bone (DB) from ovariectomized (OVX) rats cannot induce bone formation when implanted ectopically at the subcutaneous site. Here we showed in vitro that 17beta-estradiol (E2) specifically induced expression of Bmp6 mRNA in MC3T3-E1 preosteoblastic cells and that bone extracts from OVX rats lack BMPs.

View Article and Find Full Text PDF• Metal concentrations within reproductive tissues of metallophytes are rarely reported. Here, the spatial distribution of nickel (Ni) within the fruits (seeds) of the Ni hyperaccumulator Stackhousia tryonii was investigated. • Two microanalytical techniques, energy dispersive x-ray spectrometry (EDXS) and nuclear microprobe (micro-proton-induced x-ray emission spectrometry; micro-PIXE) were employed for qualitative and quantitative assessment, respectively, of localized Ni, within the fruits of S.
