Background: In Canada, academic hospitals are the principal drivers of research and medical education, while community hospitals provide patient care to a majority of the population. Benefits of increasing community hospital research include improved patient outcomes and access to research, enhanced staff satisfaction and retention and increased research efficiency and generalizability. While the resources required to build Canadian community hospital research capacity have been identified, strategies for strengthening organizational research culture in these settings are not well defined.

Increasing community hospital research participation can improve generalizability of study results, while also accelerating study recruitment and increasing staff engagement. We aimed to identify and describe the factors that influence community intensive care unit (ICU) research participation and the development, implementation, and sustainability of a community ICU research program.

Research has recognized the role of the right temporoparietal junction (rTPJ) in social cognition; however, there is less direct causal evidence for its involvement in empathic responses to pain, which is typically attributed to simulation mechanisms. Given the rTPJ's role in processing false beliefs and contextual information during social scenarios, we hypothesized that empathic responses to another person's pain depend on the rTPJ if participants are given information about people's intentions, engaging mentalizing mechanisms alongside simulative ones.

Evaluating methods to determine oxalic acid content with reduced matrix interference, such as employing Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (FAAS), can enhance the specificity of determinations. The different matrices of purslane (whole plant, leaves, and juice) and spinach (whole plant) were tested using three extraction methods (M1, M2, and M3).

Total proteins, lipids and lactose were evaluated, the determination of essential minerals was performed by FAAS and phosphorus by colorimetric method. All ORG samples showed protein content equivalent to CNV and lower lactose and lipid content.

Herein, we describe an infection in a 50-year-old Russian man with acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) who presented with pulmonary cavitary lesions and clinical manifestation of colonic malakoplakia. A colonoscopy examination showed ulceration and mucosal erosion, and the histological findings confirmed the colonic malakoplakia.

Purpose Of Review: Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is a ubiquitous herpesvirus that affects almost all humans and establishes lifelong infections by infecting B-lymphocytes leading to their immortalization. EBV has a discrete life cycle with latency and lytic reactivation phases. EBV can reactivate and cause lymphoproliferation in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised individuals.

Objectives: This pilot research project aimed to evaluate the perceived effectiveness of a telemedicine program in delivering care to critically ill pediatric patients in the emergency department by exploring the experiences of parents/caregivers and physicians.
Unlabelled: CAR T-cell product quality and stemness (Tstem) are major determinants of in vivo expansion, efficacy, and clinical response. Prolonged ex vivo culturing is known to deplete Tstem, affecting clinical outcome. YTB323, a novel autologous CD19-directed CAR T-cell therapy expressing the same validated CAR as tisagenlecleucel, is manufactured using a next-generation platform in <2 days.

To drive research into the application of targeted therapies as radiosensitizers, a better understanding of this molecular crosstalk is necessary. We present here the characterization of a previously unreported MET RTK phosphosite, Serine 1016 (S1016) that represents a potential DDR-MET interface.

This study aimed to discover the acceptance and hesitancy reasons for choosing or refusing to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Methods: A scoping review was conducted, and articles from three online databases, PubMed, Wiley, and Cochrane Library, were extracted and screened based on exclusion and PICOs criteria.
Objective: The objective of this study was to determine the factors that increase the odds of long-stay delayed discharge in alternate level of care (ALC) patients using data collected from the Ontario Wait Time Information System (WTIS) database.
Design: Retrospective cohort study utilizing data from Niagara Health's WTIS database. WTIS includes individuals admitted to any of the Niagara Health sites that have been designated as ALC.
Thyroglossal duct (TGD) remnants in the form of cysts or fistulas usually present as midline neck masses and they are removed along with the central body of the hyoid bone (Sistrunk's procedure). For other pathologies associated with the TGD tract, the latter operation might be not necessary. In the present report, a case of a TGD lipoma is presented and a systematic review of the pertinent literature was performed.

To date the cellular circuitries associated with driving oncoproteins, which eventually establish the phenotypic manifestation of oncogene addiction, remain largely unexplored. Data suggest the DNA damage response (DDR) as a central signaling network that intersects with pathways associated with deregulated addicting oncoproteins with kinase activity in cancer cells.

Autologous HCT requires specialized care at a transplantation center and investment from patients and caregivers. We studied the safety and feasibility of delivering transplantation care in a homebound setting to decrease the burden of therapy and increase access to autologous HCT.

The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences instituted the Common Metrics Initiative with the goal of evaluating the Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Programs using a standard set of metrics. Initially managed by Tufts University, the Center for Leading Innovation and Collaboration (CLIC) at the University of Rochester began leading this initiative in 2017.

The buritirana is a little-explored species of the Arecaceae family. The biometric and physicochemical characteristics, nutritional and chemical composition and antioxidant and antibacterial potential of the buritirana fruit fractions were evaluated here for the first time. The fruits presented an oblong shape.

The goal of this work was to analyze the distribution, clustering, and recognition of D&I expertise in an academic institution.
Methods: A snowball survey was administered to investigators at University of Rochester with experience and/or interest in D&I research.
