Fungal Necrotizing Fasciitis Due to Mucormycosis Following Contaminated Substance Inoculation: A Report of Two Cases.

Unlabelled: Mucormycosis is a life-threatening fungal infection caused by Mucorales fungi, characterized by angioinvasion and tissue necrosis. While it predominantly affects immunocompromised individuals, it can also occur in immunocompetent patients through traumatic inoculations, such as contaminated surgical dressings or injections. We report two cases of cutaneous mucormycosis following the shared use of contaminated intramuscular corticosteroid injections (dexamethasone).

Background: The use of fluids is the most frequently used therapy for circulatory shock. Its inadequate use has adverse effects, requiring hemodynamic goals, highlighting the use of pulse pressure variation due to its high accuracy. One of the problems related to this method is the difficulties in measuring the pulse pressure variation (PPV) in most monitors for clinical use.

COVID-19 in a Patient with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia with Pseudohypoxemia.

Unlabelled: Infection with SARS-CoV-2 causes critical disease in approximately 5% of affected patients, particularly the elderly, hypertensive, obese and immunocompromised. Patients with haematological cancer, including chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), are particularly at risk of complications. Very rarely, patients with extreme leukocytosis may develop spurious hypoxemia, or pseudohypoxemia, which confuses the diagnosis of complications and can lead to intervention errors.

Disseminated hematogenous tuberculosis in puerperium-case report.

Although tuberculosis (TB) is relatively common in pregnancy and puerperium, its disseminated form is a rare event, with potential lethal maternal and fetal outcomes. Due to the infrequency and lack of knowledge of most physicians about the various manifestations of the disease, the diagnosis is often overlooked, and treatment postponed, resulting in a high death rate. We report a fatal case of disseminated tuberculosis in the puerperium, with lung, brain, liver and uterine involvement.

Hemoglobin Willamette (β51Pro → Arg): Case Report and Literature Review.

We report a case of hemoglobin (Hb) Willamette (β51 Pro → Arg) in the Hematology Department of a tertiary hospital in Fortaleza, Northeast of Brazil. A literature review of the cases described in health sciences databases using as a descriptor Hb Willamette was performed, revealing 12 reported cases, of which only one presented with anemia. Herein, we describe a case of a female 29 years old, with hemoglobinopathy Willamette presenting clinically with anemia, having the lowest hemoglobin rate of the published cases.

Diffuse Gastric Cancer During Pregnancy: Report of a Rare Association.

Gastric cancer during pregnancy is a rare event and difficult to diagnose, as the symptoms can be confused with those of an ordinary pregnancy. We report a case of a 25-year-old patient with a 29-week gestation, with asthenia complaint, vomiting and weight loss. During the investigation of wasting syndrome endoscopy was performed with infiltrative ulcerative lesions in pre-pyloric region with biopsy revealing carcinoma with signet ring, undifferentiated type.

[Amyloidosis and end-stage renal disease associated with leprosy].

Renal involvement in leprosy includes glomerulonephritis, amyloidosis and tubulointerstitial nephritis. A 58-year-old man was admitted with complaints of lower limb edema and dyspnea. At admission, nitrogen retention, anemia, hyperkalemia and metabolic acidosis were observed, requiring hemodialysis.
