As an important part of lipid metabolism the liver produces large particles called very low density lipoproteins, filled mostly with triglyceride and cholesterol esters mixture. The authors present a patient with COVID-19 and spontaneous idiopathic pneumoperitoneum. A 77-year-old man suffering from coronary artery disease, diabetes mellitus and cognitive disorders was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia and COVID-19. Oxygen support through a face mask was prescribed.

Ordered and reversible hydrogenation of silicene.

The hydrogenation of monatomic silicene sheet on Ag(111) was studied by scanning tunneling microscopy and density functional theory calculations. It was observed that hydrogenation of silicene at room temperature results in a perfectly ordered γ-(3×3) superstructure. A theoretical model, which involves seven H atoms and rearranged buckling of Si atoms, was proposed and agrees with experiments very well.

Lipoxygenase pathway of arachidonic acid metabolism in growth control of tumor cells of different type.

The influence of inhibitors of different lipoxygenases (LOX) on the growth of human tumor cells with different profiles of synthesized eicosanoids was studied. The studied LOX inhibitors had virtually no influence on the growth of A549 cells actively synthesizing cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase metabolites of arachidonic acid (AA). The inhibitor of 12-LOX, baicalein, significantly inhibited proliferation in cultures of A431 epidermoid carcinoma cells with a characteristic domination of the major lipoxygenase metabolite of AA, 12-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (12-HETE), in the profile of synthesized eicosanoids and reduced to 70% the incorporation of [3H]thymidine into DNA.

[Low-frequency pulsed magnetotherapy combined with electrostimulation of biologically active points in the combined treatment of traumatic mandibular osteomyelitis].

The results of treatment are analyzed in 51 patients (35 with exacerbation of chronic traumatic mandibular osteomyelitis and 16 with chronic traumatic mandibular osteomyelitis). Low-intensity pulsed magnetic therapy of the focus in combination with electric stimulation of segmentary bioactive points, synchronized by the patient's pulse, are proposed to be added to the therapeutic complex. Such a modality improved the regional hemodynamics, promoted liquidation of the postoperative edema on days 1-2 after intervention, and sooner than after traditional therapy repaired the energy of the patient's organism.

[Transcobalamin II levels in blood plasma of children with acute leukemia].

Transcobalamin II (TcII) level was studied in plasma of 40 children with acute leukemia. TcII is a cobalamin-binding protein which mediated the cellular uptake of Cbl and interacted with surface membrane receptor of hemopoietic cells. Plasma TcII and cobalofilins were analysed by PAGE using 57Co-cyanocobalamin.

[The expression of plasmalemma transcobalamin-II receptors on human blood lymphocytes stimulated by mitogens].

The influence of mitogens on the expression of surface membrane TC-II receptors of human blood lymphocytes and internalization of (TS-II+57Co-CNCbl) complex into cytoplasm were investigated. Mature lymphocytes have a very small number of surface receptors to plasma TC-II but their expression is increased significantly by PHA or Con-A stimulation. CBl transport to cytoplasma is activated in definite sequence by two different mechanisms.

[Active transport of cobalamins in leukemic cells of L-1210 mice].

The Tc-II receptors of cell surface membrane and the cobalamins entering into the L-1210 mouse leukemia cells were investigated. We used the blood serum Tc-II saturated with 57CoCNCbl for radioactivity determination separately in solubilized receptors and inside of the cells. The data on ligand regulation of the leukemic cell membrane receptors number were received.

[Quantitative evaluation of the surface membrane receptors of leukemic cells to blood serum transcobalamin-II].

Serum protein transcobalamin II (TC-II) is responsible for transport of cobalamins into mammalian cells. A method of quantitative estimation of plasma membrane receptors of hemopoietic cells to TC-II cobalamin complex is suggested. Analysis of mouse leukemia L1210 cells includes the saturation of radiolabelled ligand-receptor complex with papain.

[The effect of trisporic acids on the composition of components of the cell wall in Blakeslea trispora Thaxter].

The cell wall of Blakeslea trispora was found to contain chitin similar to crustaceaous chitin in physico-chemical properties; this was confirmed by the data of IR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis. Trisporic acids, hormonal regulators of reproduction, hardly affected the content of chitin, xylan, and other polysaccharides of the cell wall of Blakeslea trispora, but increased the content of protein.

[Oxidation of phenol by Bacillus stearothermophilus strains].

The assimilation of phenol as a sole source of carbon and energy was studied with the thermophilic bacillus isolated from the geothermal zones in the South Ural.
