Unlabelled: Spondyloenchondrodysplasia (SPENCD) is a rare genetic disorder characterized with skeletal dysplasia, immune dysregulation, and neurological impairment. Patients diagnosed with SPENCD at a single pediatric hematology center were included in the study. The patients' clinical characteristics, symptoms at presentation, imaging and laboratory results, and genetic analysis results were collected retrospectively from their files.

Persistent hypoglycemia in congenital syphilis: hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia with a focal pancreatic lesion.

Objectives: Congenital syphilis can cause severe morbidities such as hydrops fetalis, preterm birth, low birth weight, hepatosplenomegaly, pneumonia, hypoglycemia, etc., and mortality. Despite hypoglycemia being reported in congenital syphilis and hyperinsulinism, only one case was described.

Clinical spectrum of primary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis: experience of reference centers in Central and Southeast Anatolia.

Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a life-threatening disease, with a high mortality if left untreated. In addition, the disease has unique diagnostic challenges. Therefore, despite the existing guidelines on management, current clinical practice data is informative on the course and outcome.

Ecological succession on 3D printed ceramic artificial reefs.

The global degradation of natural coral reefs requires innovative approaches to their conservation and restoration. This study investigates the efficacy of using parametric design tools in 3D software and 3D-printed terracotta structures in artificial reef (AR) design. Three ARs were deployed in the northern Gulf of Aqaba in 2019.

According to the Rules of the International Code of Nomenclature of Prokaryotes (ICNP) and its appendices, names of higher taxa are formed by the addition of the appropriate suffix to the stem of the name of the type genus, and word stems derived from Latin and/or Greek are combined to compound names by means of an appropriate connecting vowel. The way the word 'stem' is used in the ICNP differs from the meaning of this term in textbooks of Latin and Greek grammar. We therefore propose to add a Note to Rule 8, clarifying that the term 'stem' when used in the ICNP corresponds with that part of the word that does not vary among the forms of the noun in the oblique cases, i.

Transgender and gender-diverse (TGD) youth encounter unique challenges affecting their mental health, largely related to societal stigma and gender dysphoria. Limited research considers the specific needs of TGD youth. This study examined demographic and developmental factors, including the ages at which gender-related events occur, and their relationship to mental health among TGD youth seeking gender-affirming consultation and care (GACC).

Pediatric Primary Dural Lymphoblastic B-cell Lymphoma Presenting as Hematoma in the Frontoparietal Region: A Case Report.

Lymphomas originating from the meninges without brain or systemic involvement represent an extremely rare type of primary central nervous system lymphomas. Here, we report a case of primary dural lymphoma in a 3-year-old boy who was brought to the hospital due to headache, nausea, and vomiting episodes ongoing for several days. An acute hematoma in the right frontoparietal region was detected on a brain CT scan.

Novel insights into the diversity of halophilic microorganisms and their functioning in hypersaline ecosystems.

Our understanding of the microbial diversity inhabiting hypersaline environments, here defined as containing >100-150 g/L salts, has greatly increased in the past five years. Halophiles are found in each of the three domains of life. Many novel types have been cultivated, and metagenomics and other cultivation-independent approaches have revealed the existence of many previously unrecognized lineages.

Microbial colonization of gypsum: from the fossil record to the present day.

Microorganisms inhabiting gypsum have been observed in environments that differ greatly in water availability. Gypsum colonized by microorganisms, including cyanobacteria, eukaryotic algae, and diverse heterotrophic communities, occurs in hot, arid or even hyperarid environments, in cold environments of the Antarctic and Arctic zones, and in saline and hypersaline lakes and ponds where gypsum precipitates. Fossilized microbial remnants preserved in gypsum were also reported.
