Background: Smartphone electrocardiograms (iECGs) are an innovative method of capturing transient arrhythmias that are occasionally experienced by athletes. This study aimed to assess the accuracy of a 6-lead iECG compared with 12-lead ECG in athletes and those with known genetic heart disease (positive controls).

Research Design And Methods: Each participant had a resting 12-lead ECG (supine) and a 30 s 6-lead iECG (seated) taken within 2 h.

Background & Aim: Fast-track or enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) is a care pathway for surgical patients based on a multidisciplinary team approach aimed at optimising recovery without increasing risk with protocols based on scientific evidence, which is monitored continuously to ensure compliance and improvement. These protocols have been shown to reduce the duration of postoperative mechanical ventilation and intensive care unit (ICU) length of stay (LOS) following paediatric cardiac surgery. Screening elite athletes for conditions associated with sudden cardiac death is recommended by numerous international guidelines. Current athlete electrocardiogram interpretation criteria recommend the Bazett formula (QTcB) for correcting QT interval. However, other formulae may perform better at lower and higher heart rates (HR).

This article examines the development of the law in respect of the use of the power, primarily by reference to court and tribunal decisions across the various jurisdictions in Australia. Some of the key principles from the decisions are identified as well as certain areas in which the law is still developing and may be a little uncertain.

Cricket injury in New Zealand: a study of injury insurance claims from 2008 to 2018.

Objectives: This study aimed to quantify injury claims in organised community cricket in New Zealand over a 10-year period, 1 July, 2008 to June 30, 2018.

Design: Retrospective analysis of administrative insurance claims data from the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC), New Zealand.

Methods: Injury claims relating to cricket in males and females in New Zealand were identified from coded data and relevant text searches of routinely collected claims data.
