Is it true that if citizens understand hurricane probabilities, they will make more rational decisions for evacuation? Finding answers to such questions is not straightforward in the literature because the terms "judgment" and "decision making" are often used interchangeably. This terminology conflation leads to a lack of clarity on whether people make suboptimal decisions because of inaccurate judgments of information conveyed in visualizations or because they use alternative yet currently unknown heuristics. To decouple judgment from decision making, we review relevant concepts from the literature and present two preregistered experiments (N = 601) to investigate if the task (judgment versus decision making), the scenario (sports versus humanitarian), and the visualization (quantile dotplots, density plots, probability bars) affect accuracy.

The aim of this study was to determine whether Kisspeptin and Kisspeptin receptor in the follicular microenvironment is necessary for human oocyte maturation and fertilisation. The cumulus cell (CC) and follicle fluids (FF) obtained from the first aspirated follicles ( = 52) from 32 patients were divided into three groups considering nuclear maturation and fertilisation results of oocytes: (1) Metaphase I or germinal vesicle stage oocytes (incomplete nuclear maturation,  = 10), (2) unfertilised metaphase II oocytes (incomplete cytoplasmic maturation,  = 16), and (3) fertilised metaphase II oocytes (completed nuclear-cytoplasmic maturation,  = 26). The gene expression levels were assessed by RT-PCR.

Aims And Background: Suppressor of cytokine signaling 1 (SOCS1) is a prototype molecule of the SOCS family. Alterations in the SOCS1 expression have been reported in human cancers and some studies suggest that SOCS1 might act as a tumor suppressor in carcinogenesis. In the present study, we aimed to evaluate the association of SOCS1 promoter -1478CA/del gene polymorphism detected in DNA isolated from the tissues of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) for histopathological characteristics and survival.

Myeloid cells play a pivotal role in regulating innate and adaptive immune responses. In inflammation, autoimmunity, and after transplantation, myeloid cells have contrasting roles: on the one hand they initiate the immune response, promoting activation and expansion of effector T-cells, and on the other, they counter-regulate inflammation, maintain tissue homeostasis, and promote tolerance. The latter activities are mediated by several myeloid cells including polymorphonuclear neutrophils, macrophages, myeloid-derived suppressor cells, and dendritic cells.
