Metal chalcogenides are primarily used for thermoelectric applications due to their enormous potential to convert waste heat into valuable energy. Several studies focused on single or dual aliovalent doping techniques to enhance thermoelectric properties in semiconductor materials; however, these dopants enhance one property while deteriorating others due to the interdependency of these properties or may render the host material toxic. Therefore, a strategic doping approach is vital to harness the full potential of doping to improve the efficiency of thermoelectric generation while restoring the base material eco-friendly.

The aim of this study is to investigate whether Er:YAG laser and piezosurgery methods can be an alternative to the conventional bur method. The purpose of this study is to compare the postoperative pain, swelling, trismus and patient satisfaction between Er:YAG laser, piezosurgery device, and conventional bur methods that are used to remove bone barrier during extraction of the impacted lower third molar. Objective: This study aimed to compare obstetrical outcomes between women diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in the third trimester after testing negative for GDM in two-step screening in the second trimester and women diagnosed in the second trimester.

High performance of an electrode relies largely on scrupulous design of nanoarchitectures and smart hybridization of bespoke active materials. Translation of in vitro transcribed messenger RNA (mRNA) is known to be compromised by cell's innate immune responses. Herein we show that when mRNA encoding nonstructural protein 1 (NS1), an immune evasion gene derived from influenza A virus, is co-delivered with mRNA encoding green fluorescent protein (GFP), higher GFP expression can be observed in four different interferon competent cell types within 6 h, indicating NS1's wide host range property and rapid counter response to the cells' innate immune response. Enhanced mRNA translation correlates with reduced interferon production in all tested cell types and substituting a small portion of luciferase mRNA with NS1 mRNA enhances luciferase production compared to the same dose composing of only luciferase mRNA although in a cell type specific manner.

We report, theoretically and experimentally, the realization of a high detection performance in a novel magnetoelectric (ME) transverse gradient sensor based on the large ME effect and the magnetic field gradient (MFG) technique in a pair of magnetically-biased, electrically-shielded, and mechanically-enclosed ME composites having a transverse orientation and an axial separation. The output voltage of the gradient sensor is directly obtained from the transverse MFG-induced difference in ME voltage between the two ME composites and is calibrated against transverse MFGs to give a high detection sensitivity of 0.4-30.

Objective: The aims of the study were to evaluate electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy (ENB) and computed tomography-guided placement as localization techniques for minimally invasive resection of small pulmonary nodules and determine whether electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy is a safer and more effective method than computed tomography-guided localization.

Methods: We performed a retrospective review of our thoracic surgery database to identify patients who underwent minimally invasive resection for a pulmonary mass and used either electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy or computed tomography-guided localization techniques between July 2011 and May 2015.

Results: Three hundred eighty-three patients had a minimally invasive resection during our study period, 117 of whom underwent electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy or computed tomography localization (electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy = 81; computed tomography = 36).

This case describes successful reconstruction of a long-segment tracheal defect using AlloDerm as the conduit for reconstruction. A 38-year-old woman who had undergone a thyroid lobectomy in 2011 presented several months later unable to swallow. Chest computed tomography results revealed a tracheal/esophageal mass and a subsequent bronchoscopy, and esophagogastroduodenoscopy results revealed an upper esophageal/tracheal mass with two areas concerning for fistula.
