Peer Teaching in Ultrasound Teaching: Backgraound, Motivation and Experiences of Three Peer Tutors Ultrasound education is already accessible to many students in Switzerland through courses offered by Young Sonographers as well as universities. Many universities rely on student peer tutors for teaching - but also for examinations, the elaboration of learning content, and teaching research. This interview explores the motivations and experiences of one female and two peer male tutors in ultrasound teaching.

Background: Feline pancreas-specific lipase (Spec fPL) is considered a useful test for the antemortem diagnosis of pancreatitis in cats. A recent study found good agreement between the results of the Spec fPL and catalytic 1,2-o-dilauryl-rac-glycero-3-glutaric acid-(6'-methylresorufin) ester (DGGR) lipase assay. Prospective studies evaluating their sensitivity and specificity are lacking.

This study describes the development and validation of a fast, accurate, and precise UPLC-Q-TOF-MS method for the analysis of steryl glycosides (SGs). The best combination of separation and sensitivity was obtained with a methanol/water gradient and formic acid as additive, using electrospray ionization (ESI). SGs were detected almost exclusively as sodiated adducts, allowing identification of the intact molecule, including the sugar moiety.

Objective: To investigate agreement of a feline pancreas-specific lipase assay and a colorimetric lipase assay with a 1,2-o-dilauryl-rac-glycero-3-glutaric acid-(6'-methylresorufin) ester (DGGR) substrate with results of pancreatic ultrasonography in cats with suspicion of pancreatitis.

Design: Retrospective case series.

Animals: 161 client-owned cats with suspicion of pancreatitis.

Background: Serum lipase activities measured by catalytic assays are claimed to be of limited utility for diagnosing pancreatitis in cats. The Spec fPL assay currently is believed the most sensitive test; however, studies comparing different lipase assays are lacking. 1,2-o-dilauryl-rac-glycero-3-glutaric acid-(6'-methylresorufin) ester (DGGR) assay for the determination of lipase activity has been evaluated in dogs, but no information is available in cats.

We report the case of a 54-year old man with slowly progressive symmetrical weakness of the proximal legs and atactic gait. The diagnostic work-up is reviewed. It revealed the diagnosis of a Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome(LEMS) and SIADH caused by a small cell lung cancer (SCLC).

The research that was carried out with comparative groups showed the influence of the work done by a coordinated health group on the prolonged natural lactation. This experience has proved the evident reduction of percentages of malnutrition and diarrhoea in children under 6 months of age.
