is the main bacteria associated with gastroduodenal diseases. Recent studies have reported that gastric microbiota might be modified by the colonization, favoring gastric lesions' development. In Chile, the region of La Araucanía concentrates a high risk of gastric cancer associated with colonization, rurality, poverty, and Mapuche ethnicity.

A combination of favipiravir and zanamivir successfully cleared influenza B infection in a child who had undergone bone marrow transplant for X-linked severe combined immunodeficiency, with no recovery of T lymphocytes. Deep sequencing of viral samples illuminated the within-host dynamics of infection, demonstrating the effectiveness of favipiravir in this case.

colonizes half of the human population. Age, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status are factors that influence the prevalence of the infection. This is important in southern Chile, one of the most unequal regions in the world, where a significant difference in the health access of the population occurs due to the existence of two competing health systems.

Introduction: After its intravenous injection, [F]fluorocholine is oxidized by choline-oxidase into its main plasma metabolite, [F]fluorobetaine. If PET kinetic modeling quantification of [F]fluorocholine uptake is intended, the plasma input time-activity-curve of the parent tracer must be obtained, i.e.

Objectives: Cortical posterior hypometabolism on PET imaging with F-FDG (FDG-PET), and altered levels of Aß peptide, total Tau (tTau) and phosphorylated Tau (pTau) proteins in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) are established diagnostic biomarkers in Alzheimer's disease (AD). An evaluation has been made of the concordance and relationship between the results of FDG-PET and CSF biomarkers in symptomatic patients with suspected AD.

Material And Methods: A retrospective review was carried out on 120 patients with cognitive impairment referred to our Cognitive Neurology Unit, and who were evaluated by brain FDG-PET and a lumbar puncture for CSF biomarkers.

Radioiodine uptake in the thyroid tissue, metastasis of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC), and in other tissues, depends on the expression of sodium-iodide symporter (NIS). Vascular permeability, effusions, inflammation, and other mechanisms may also play a role in the accumulation of radioactive iodine. A 63-year-old woman underwent radioiodine therapy, as well as a post-therapy whole-body scan, as she was suspected of having lung metastasis from thyroid carcinoma.

Context: During the last decade a major curriculum reform was carried out at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile Medical School. The process included changes in curriculum development, staff development and in the infrastructure. However, it is not known how students perceived the climate of their education within the new model.

Organic osmolyte and halide permeability pathways activated in epithelial HeLa cells by cell swelling were studied by radiotracer efflux techniques and single-cell volume measurements. The replacement of extracellular Cl- by anions that are more permeant through the volume-activated Cl- channel, as indicated by electrophysiological measurements, significantly decreased taurine efflux. In the presence of less-permeant anions, an increase in taurine efflux was observed.

Statural growth has been evaluated in 20 prepubertal nephrotic children who received alternate-day prednisone therapy for a year at least. Bone age was assessed in 16 of these children after 1-4 years of therapy. During the follow-up 12 children showed variations in height standard deviation score (SDs) below 0.
