Objective: To obtain priority consensus for outcome measures of oral corticosteroid treatment of preschool wheeze that represent stakeholder groups.

Design: (1) A systematic review to identify a set of outcome measures; (2) an international survey for healthcare professionals (HCPs) and a nominal group meeting with parents; (3) a final consensus nominal group meeting with key HCPs (trial investigators and paediatric emergency medicine clinicians) and the same parent group.

Main Outcome Measures: Consensus priority of treatment outcome measures, outcome minimal clinically important differences (MCIDs) and level of concerns about adverse effects.

Article Synopsis
  • Metabolism dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is characterized by fatty liver and is linked to obesity, type 2 diabetes, or metabolic issues, occurring in individuals without significant alcohol consumption.
  • This study aimed to compare five non-invasive indices (Fatty Liver Index, NAFLD Liver Fat Score, Visceral Adiposity Index, Steato Test, and Hepatic Steatosis Index) to assess their effectiveness in predicting liver steatosis among patients with metabolic syndrome.
  • Results showed that 65 out of 100 patients with metabolic syndrome had MASLD, with significant results from several scoring systems indicating their potential utility in diagnosing the condition.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study reviews prior research to guide the implementation of HPV testing for cervical screening in India, focusing on methods of invitation, education, and follow-up within community-based programs and among women living with HIV.
  • - Out of 71 articles analyzed, most studies targeted the general population rather than specific groups, with a notable acceptance of self-collection methods among women; however, there was limited research on certain populations, like tribal groups.
  • - The authors conclude that while community-based HPV testing is feasible in India, further research is necessary to understand its integration into health systems and the effectiveness of different screening and treatment models, especially in underrepresented populations.

Space exploration's advancement toward long-duration missions prompts intensified research on physiological effects. Despite adaptive physiological stability in some variables, persistent changes affect genome integrity, immune response, and cognitive function. Our study, utilizing multi-omics data from GeneLab, provides crucial insights investigating muscle atrophy during space mission.

Background Stroke is a debilitating cerebrovascular condition characterized by sudden neurological deficits. The incidence of stroke is rising in India, posing significant public health concerns. This study aims to examine the risk factors and etiology of stroke using the Trial of Org 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment (TOAST) classification and analyze infarct areas in cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) at a tertiary care hospital.

Background and objective Early neurological deterioration (END) following acute ischemic stroke (AIS) poses a significant clinical challenge, often leading to increased disability and mortality. This study aimed to investigate the association between specific biomarkers (lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), ferritin, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein (CRP), homocysteine) and the occurrence of END in ischemic stroke patients in a tertiary care hospital. Materials and methods A cross-sectional hospital-based study was conducted at Dr.

Solitary cysticercus granulomas (SCG), prevalent among Indian patients with new-onset seizures, either resolve completely or transform into calcified granulomas. This study aimed to identify serum proteins through liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry that could predict calcification of SCGs in 20 patients with SCG with at least 6-months of follow-up. At a median follow-up of 14 months, the SCG had calcified (n = 5), resolved (n = 11), or persisted (n = 4).

Background: The authors had previously developed AnaVu, a low-resource 3D visualization tool for stereoscopic/monoscopic projection of 3D models generated from pre-segmented MRI neuroimaging data. However, its utility in neuroanatomical education compared to conventional methods (specifically whether the stereoscopic or monoscopic mode is more effective) is still unclear.

Methods: A three-limb randomized controlled trial was designed.

Normal vertical and horizontal offset is essential for hip biomechanics, muscle functioning and gait pattern. Total hip arthroplasty (THA) should aim to restore normal offset with implantation of femoral and acetabular components. This would be possible with proper preoperative planning, templating and ensuring implant options are available for offset restoration.

Adults requiring total hip arthroplasty (THA) for childhood disorder sequelae present with shortening, limp, pain, and altered gait. THA, which can be particularly challenging due to altered anatomy, requires careful planning, assessment, and computed tomography evaluation. Preoperative templating is essential to establish the appropriate acetabular and femoral size.

Introduction Disabilities and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are prevalent among the elderly, significantly affecting their quality of life. Comprehensive population-based data are essential for effective healthcare planning and rehabilitation. This study aims to determine the prevalence of self-reported disabilities and compare Barthel Index scores among elderly individuals with and without NCDs.

Fabry disease is a rare X-linked lysosomal storage disorder that leads to the accumulation of globotriaosylceramide (Gb3) across various tissues, stemming from a deficiency in alpha-galactosidase A (GLA). This condition is characterized by a spectrum of clinical manifestations that can significantly complicate diagnosis. Classical symptoms typically include neuropathic pain, angiokeratomas, and significant involvement of the renal and cardiac systems.

Background: Although studies often report the prevalence of obesity, community-based studies reporting the incidence of overweight or obesity in India are scarce. Such incidence data are crucial for improving projections about the future burden of obesity.

Methods: A non-concurrent follow-up study was done in 2015 in urban Vellore, Tamil Nadu, among two groups of women aged 30-40 years, with body mass index (BMI) <25 kg/m (normal) and BMI ≥25 kg/m (overweight/obese) in 2012, to assess changes in BMI.

South Asian children are among the most severely malnourished worldwide. One prominent hypothesis is that open defecation in the local area exposes children to human fecal pathogens that can cause diarrhea and malnutrition. Much of the existing research uses district-level measures of open defecation, which could mask important local-area variation.

Background: In order for low and middle income countries (LMIC) to transition to Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) test based cervical cancer screening, a greater understanding of how to implement these evidence based interventions (EBI) among vulnerable populations is needed. This paper documents outcomes of an implementation research on HPV screening among women from tribal, rural, urban slum settings in India.

Methods: A mixed-method, pragmatic, quasi-experimental trial design was used.
