Dengue viruses (DENVs), like all viruses, evolve to perpetuate transmission of their species in their hosts. However, how DENV genetics influences dengue disease outbreaks remains poorly understood. Here, we examined isolates of the South Pacific dengue virus type 2 (DENV-2) that emerged in the 1970s and caused major dengue outbreaks in islands in this region until it reached Tonga, where only a few mild cases were reported.

Background/introduction: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) remains a leading cause of disability and mortality, with skull fractures being a frequent and serious consequence. Accurate and rapid diagnosis of these fractures is crucial, yet current manual methods via cranial CT scans are time-consuming and prone to error.

However, it remains unclear whether these findings represent mere statistical correlations or reflect functional associations with vaccine immunogenicity.

Clinical features and prognosis of ANCA-associated vasculitis patients who were double-seropositive for myeloperoxidase-ANCA and proteinase 3-ANCA.

Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) patients with dual positivity for proteinase 3-ANCA (PR3-ANCA) and myeloperoxidase-ANCA (MPO-ANCA) are uncommon. We aimed to investigate these idiopathic double-positive AAV patients' clinical features, histological characteristics, and prognosis. We reviewed all the electronic medical records of patients diagnosed with AAV to obtain clinical data and renal histological information from January 2010 to December 2020 in a large center in China.

Introduction: Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a clinically defined syndrome of disturbed neurologic function in the newborn with evidence of perinatal asphyxia. Endoscopic sphincterotomy with balloon dilatation versus sphincterotomy alone for common bile duct stones removal: a randomised controlled trial.

Introduction: Endoscopic sphincterotomy (EST) plus endoscopic papillary large balloon dilatation (EPLBD) has been reported as a valid alternative to EST alone in removing common bile duct (CBD) stone. The aim of this study is to compare efficacy, and safety of these two groups of patients in removing CBD stone in Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM).

This systematic review aims to investigate the association between non-invasive indicators of autonomic function based on beat-to-beat cardiovascular signals with arterial stiffness in individuals with hypertension.

Antigen-specific regulatory T cells (Tregs) suppress pathogenic autoreactivity and are potential therapeutic candidates for autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Lupus nephritis is associated with autoreactivity to the Smith (Sm) autoantigen and the human leucocyte antigen (HLA)-DR15 haplotype; hence, we investigated the potential of Sm-specific Tregs (Sm-Tregs) to suppress disease. Here we identify a HLA-DR15 restricted immunodominant Sm T cell epitope using biophysical affinity binding assays, then identify high-affinity Sm-specific T cell receptors (TCRs) using high-throughput single-cell sequencing.

Introduction: Non-attendance for radiology outpatient appointments is a global issue and is associated with adverse clinical outcomes and operational inefficiencies. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is becoming more common in the Western world due to changes in diet-related microbial dysbiosis, genetics and lifestyle. Incidences of gut permeability can predate IBD and continued gut barrier disruptions increase the exposure of bacterial antigens to the immune system thereby perpetuating chronic inflammation. Currently, most of the approved IBD therapies target individual pro-inflammatory cytokines and pathways.

Background: Although social housing provides access to safe and affordable housing, recent studies have found that social housing tenants consistently have lower levels of health and well-being compared to other people. Given this, there is a need to examine multimorbidity for social housing tenants.

Methods: Secondary data analysis of the 2017-18 Australian National Health Survey (n = 14,327) compared the health of adults residing in social housing compared to people in other housing types (private rentals, homeowners, and homeowners/mortgagees).
