Cord blood (CB) is widely stored as a source of hematopoietic stem cells for potential future use, though its application for autologous purposes remains limited. Repurposing CB into human-induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) can broaden its utility beyond hematological conditions. This study investigated the effects of umbilical cord-mesenchymal stromal cell (UC-MSC) co-culture on CB CD34 cells and the characteristics of the resulting hiPSCs.

This study assessed the effectiveness of an educational intervention on weight control intention using the Health Belief Model (HBM).

However, challenges such as a high running cost and the increasing availability of treatment alternatives have made the effort to sustain CB banks difficult. This prompts the need to revisit the current CB banking initiatives to retain the relevance in this ever‑changing era parallel to the fast‑pacing development of cell‑based therapeutic technology.

According to projections from the Worldwide Health Observatory, it is currently one of the rapidly increasing contributors to global mortality. The prevalence of CKD and end-stage renal disease (ESRD) is increasing globally.

Additionally, with the advent of e-commerce, these products have become easily accessible to the general public. Although several theoretical models have been used to explain the use of health supplements and natural products, empirical evidence on how consumers make decisions to purchase online health supplements and natural products remains limited.

It is characterised by gastric mural pneumatosis and portal venous gas, secondary to bacterial or fungal invasion. Given the rarity of the condition, there is little evidence to guide clinical decisions regarding whether a patient requires surgical resection.

Design: This is a cross-sectional study that used a convenient sampling technique.
Study Sample: One hundred and fifty-seven parents of typically developing children aged between 4 months and 7 years participated in the study.
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and impaired glycemic control are closely linked; however, the pathophysiological mechanisms underpinning this bidirectional relationship remain unresolved. The high secretory capacity of the liver and impairments in protein secretion in NAFLD suggest that endocrine changes in the liver are likely to contribute to glycemic defects. We identify hexosaminidase A (HEXA) as an NAFLD-induced hepatokine in both mice and humans.

Consequently, this study explores the use of a novel multi-beam flash light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensor to tackle such a sensing barrier. A framework is proposed to record tree vibrations, to construct the motions of tree skeletons from the point-cloud frames recorded by the LiDAR sensor and to derive the dynamic properties of trees.

Drug resistance efflux pumps are essential for antibiotic resistance in bacteria. Here, we evaluated the plant phenolic compound ethyl 3,4-dihydroxybenzoate (EDHB) for its efflux pump inhibitory (EPI) activity against drug-resistant .

Diabetic foot ulcer, a common complication of diabetes, is associated with high morbidity and mortality, consequently increasing health care expenditure.

Using proteomic approaches, we interrogate hepatocyte protein secretion in two models of murine NASH to understand how liver-derived factors modulate lipid metabolism and insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues. We reveal striking hepatokine remodelling that is associated with insulin resistance and maladaptive lipid metabolism, and identify arylsulfatase A (ARSA) as a hepatokine that is upregulated in NASH and type 2 diabetes.

Oil palm is one of the world's most important crops, constituting over a third of global vegetable oil production. Currently there is little understanding of the oil palm microbiome and its contribution to plant health and productivity, with existing knowledge based almost entirely on culture dependent studies.

Efflux pump inhibitors (EPIs) are potential therapeutic agents for adjunctive therapy, which can restore the activity of antibiotics that are no longer effective against pathogens. This study evaluated the seaweed compound diphenylmethane (DPM) for its EPI activity.

Yet, there has been little local research done on reporting the range of work activities of clinical pharmacists and the amount of time that they spent on their work activities.
Objective: This study aimed to identify the range of work activities of clinical pharmacists by observation and to estimate the proportion of time spent on different work activities by using the work sampling technique.
Spontaneous intestinal intramural haematomas are uncommon in the absence of trauma and may occur in those on anticoagulation. A young girl presented with generalised abdominal pain and was found to have pneumoperitoneum. She underwent an exploratory laparotomy and was found to have multiple ileal intramural haematomata with an area of possible perforation with a collection of pus.

Therefore, a policy was implemented to allow pharmacy graduates to select their preferred areas of PRP training. This study was conducted to explore the perception and preferences of final year pharmacy students on the current PRP training system.

Precisely, it boils down to a common pathway characterised by the appearance of a fair amount of proinflammatory cytokines known as inflammageing. Among the proposed treatment for antiageing, MSCs gained attention in recent years.
