Background: Emerging epidemiological data suggest that Hypertension (HTN) has become a significant public health challenge in sub-Saharan Africa. HTN in young adults is a problem lacking relevant attention because it is still erroneously considered a disease of the old. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of hypertension and its associated risk factors in undergraduate medical students at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, Enugu State, Nigeria.

Telemedicine Clinics in General and Colorectal Surgery During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Patient-Reported Outcomes.

Introduction Telemedicine was introduced in place of face-to-face clinics during the COVID-19 pandemic to limit exposure and spread of the virus. This was an immediate transformation to surgical practice without prior training. Concerns were raised about whether this fulfilled the patient's expectations.

A cross-sectional regional study looking at the factors responsible for the low COVID-19 vaccination rate in Nigeria.

Introduction: COVID-19 vaccination has been rolled out in Nigeria, with low uptake often attributed to shortage of the vaccine. We set out to find out the current trend so far and to the best of our knowledge, our study is one of the early studies since the roll out in the region looking at the real situation on ground. This will guide multidisciplinary decision making at increasing uptake of the vaccine.

Stomach in a parastomal hernia: a rare complication of stomas.

Parastomal hernia (PSH) is one of the most known complications to end colostomies. However, PSH containing the stomach is rare: not many case reports were found in literature search. This case is a 92-year-old woman who was brought in by ambulance to the accident and emergency department with vomiting, abdominal distension, palpable mass on the left side of her abdomen and with reduced stoma effluent.
