Cement Augmented Pedicle Screw Instrumentation in Pediatric Spine Surgery.

Background: Osteoporosis in pediatric patients is rare. Osteomalacia and osteoporosis are known to develop in syndromic or neuromuscular scoliosis children. Spinal deformity surgery for pediatric patients with osteoporosis is challenging, associated with pedicle screw (PS) failure and compression fractures.

Transdiscal Screw Fixation in L5-S1 Adult Spondylolisthesis: Technical Note and Midterm Outcomes of a Case Series.

Background: Spondylolisthesis changes the pelvic morphology and sagittal spinopelvic alignment with abnormality compared to individuals with similar pelvic morphology. There are many treatment options including a combination of decompression and fusion. In spondylolisthesis patients with high-grade spondylolisthesis, bone to bone contact (closed intradiscal space), and high-grade disc degeneration with disc collapse, fusion is challenging.

The prevalence and characteristics of the subclavius posticus muscle in the adult population on MRI.

Purpose: The subclavius posticus muscle (SPM) is an aberrant muscle, and the presence of the SPM has a clinical significance, since the SPM might lead to thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS). To date, no radiological study has been evaluated the prevalence of the SPM in the adult population. In this study, we aimed to assess the prevalence of the SPM using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

The preliminary results of a new CT-guided periradicular cervical steroid injection technique: safety and feasibility of the lateral peri-isthmic approach in 28 patients.

Background: Computed tomography (CT)-guided cervical nerve injections are broadly being used in the treatment of cervical radiculopathy; however, catastrophic complications have been reported. Herein, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy, feasibility, and safety of a novel CT-guided cervical injection technique.

Materials And Methods: We prospectively performed cervical injections in 28 patients with cervical radiculopathies using a novel CT-guided cervical transforaminal injection technique; lateral peri-isthmic approach in which the tip of the needle advanced to the lateral cortex of the isthmus instead of the foraminal area.

Pulmonary cement embolism following cement-augmented fenestrated pedicle screw fixation in adult spinal deformity patients with severe osteoporosis (analysis of 2978 fenestrated screws).

Introduction: There is very limited information about pulmonary cement embolism (PCE) following cement-augmented fenestrated pedicle screw (CAFPS) fixation in the literature. The aim of this study to report the incidence of PCE following CAFPS fixation in adult deformity patients with severe osteoporosis and to identify risk factors such as; the number of levels, number of screws, and the cement volume used.

Methods: 281 patients (204F, 77M) in whom CAFPS fixation was used during deformity surgery were included.

Cervicothoracic spine duplication: a 10-year follow up of a neurological intact boy.

Purpose: Spine duplication is a very rare condition with the literature being composed of only case reports. All previously reported cases were thoracolumbar spine duplications. Here, we report cervicothoracic spine duplication in a neurological intact male.

Elastography in Distinguishing Benign from Malignant Thyroid Nodules.

Aim: The aim of this study is to test the diagnostic success of strain elastography in distinguishing benign from malignant thyroid nodules.

Materials And Methods: The size, echogenicity, and halo integrity of 293 thyroid nodules and the presence of microcalcification in these nodules were evaluated on gray-scale examination. Doppler characteristics and elastography patterns were also evaluated and recorded.

A Case of Anomalous Origin and Course of Vertebral Artery in a Patient with Klippel Feil Syndrome.

Patients with Klippel-Feil syndrome (KFS) have an increased incidence of vascular anomalies as well as vertebral artery (VA) anomalies. In this article, we presented imaging findings of a 15-year-old female patient with KFS with a rare association of extraforaminal cranially ascending right VA that originated from the ipsilateral carotid bulb. Trifurcation of the carotid bulb with VA is a very unusual variation and to the best of our knowledge, right-sided one has not been reported in the literature.
