Evaluation of the prognostic effectiveness of liver metastasis volume by volumetric measurement in colorectal cancer.

To evaluate the relationship between liver metastasis volume and survival in colorectal cancer patients using the volumetric measurement method. 114 colorectal cancer patients with isolated liver metastases were included in the study. Liver tumor volume, total liver volume were calculated from the patients images at the time of diagnosis.

Ocular effects of synthetic cannabinoids: a case-control study.

Objective: To evaluate the ocular effects of "Bonzai", a synthetic cannabinoid (SC), in seropositive and seronegative users.

Methods: Sixty eyes of 60 consecutive male patients with a history of "Bonzai" use and 30 eyes of 30 age-matched male healthy controls were enrolled in this case-control study. Patients with past "Bonzai" use were grouped as seropositive (n:30) and seronegative (n:30) according to urine toxicology tests.

Effects of BRCA variation on prognosis in patients with nonmetastatic breast cancer.

Background: To compare the clinicopathological characteristics of nonmetastatic breast cancer patients with and without BRCA variations and to investigate the impact of BRCA variations on prognosis.

Methods: This retrospective single-center study involved an analysis of 938 patients with localized or locally advanced breast cancer who underwent BRCA variation testing. The patients were divided into three groups: 757 were without BRCA variation, 64 were with BRCA1 variation, and 117 were with BRCA2 variation.

A Scoping Review of Interventions Targeting the Mental Health of Australian Veterans.

Serving in the military can have significant impacts on the mental health of veterans and their families. Military personnel can be exposed to a range of physical stressors, psychological trauma, risky lifestyle factors, a regimented military culture, and inadequate support when transitioning out of service. This article reviews research on interventions designed to improve the mental health of Australian military veterans in order to synthesise current knowledge and identify gaps in the literature.

Predicting survival after brain metastases in patients with bladder cancer.

Aims And Objectives: Because of its rarity, limited data concerning brain metastasis (BM) from bladder cancer (BCa) are available, so this phenomenon remains unclear. We aimed to contribute to understanding this unique patient population's clinical behavior and outcomes.

Methods/materials: This retrospective cohort study included 27 BCa patients with BM treated at our Cancer Institute between April 2009 and December 2022.

Comparison of anthracycline-containing and anthracycline-free regimens in neoadjuvant HER-2 positive breast cancer treatment.

While some clinics have adopted abbreviated neoadjuvant treatment for HER2-positive breast cancer, there remains a shortage of comprehensive clinical data to support this practice. This is a retrospective, multicenter study. A total of 142 patients were included in the study who are HER2-positive breast cancer, aged ≤ 65 years, with left ventricular ejection fraction ≥ 50%, received neoadjuvant chemotherapy and underwent surgery at 10 different oncology centers in Türkiye between October 2016 and December 2022.

Evaluating the effectiveness of the Charlson Comorbidity Index in predicting immune checkpoint inhibitor-related adverse events.

Our study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) in predicting immune-related adverse events (irAEs) in solid tumor patients receiving immunotherapy. The CCI score at the time of initiation of immunotherapy was calculated in 164 solid tumor patients receiving immunotherapy and the correlation between the CCI score and immune toxicity was evaluated. A significant relationship was found between CCI score and irAEs in lung cancer and renal cell cancer patients.

Assessment of Tp-Te interval in patients with cardiac AL amyloidosis.

Background: Prolonged Tp-Te interval is strongly associated with fatal ventricular arrhythmias and mortality. This association has been demonstrated in various diseases. However, the current literature does not give any information on Tp-Te interval in cardiac amyloid light-chain (AL) amyloidosis.

A Rare Cause of Breast Swelling in Lactating Women: Aquafilling Gel Injection.

Aquafilling® gel has been used in recent years as an alternative method to breast augmentation surgery. In this case report, we aimed to discuss radiological imaging findings and complications of Aquafilling® gel injection. Case: A 34-year-old lactating female patient presented with swelling and pain in the left breast.

Preoperative Role of Superb Microvascular Imaging and Shear-Wave Elastography for Prediction of Axillary Lymph Node Metastasis in Patients With Breast Cancer.

This study aims to evaluate the role of shearwave elastography (SWE) and superb microvascular imaging (SMI) for preoperative prediction of axillary lymph node metastasis (ALNM) in patients with breast cancer. In a cohort of 214 women with breast cancer, B-Mode ultrasonography (US), SMIvascular-index (SMIvi), and SWE (E-mean, E-ratio) values were recorded before tru-cut biopsy. Factors Influencing Stereopsis Outcomes in Adults Following Strabismus Surgery.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to evaluate binocular vision after adult strabismus surgery and to investigate the predictive factors on improvement stereoacuity.

Methods: Patients aged upper from 16 years who underwent strabismus surgery in our hospital reviewed retrospectively. Age, existence of amblyopia, pre-operative and postoperatively fusion ability, stereoacuity, and deviation angle were recorded.

This paper analyzes the impact of retirement on informal care provision using nationally representative panel data from Australia. To establish causality, we exploit the gender and cohort specific eligibility age for the Australian Age Pension. We find no evidence of an impact of retirement (status or duration) on co-residential or extra-residential unpaid care provided by older individuals.

Effect of panretinal photocoagulation on retina and choroid in diabetic retinopathy: An optical coherence tomography angiography study.

Background: To analyze the quantitative changes in both macular, and choroidal thickness, and microvascularization after panretinal photocoagulation (PRP) in eyes with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) or severe non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) by using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A).

Methods: The patients diagnosed with severe NPDR or PDR according to the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) and decided to be treated with PRP were included in this prospective and observational study. Ten eyes of 10 patients with PDR and twelve eyes of 12 patients with severe NPDR were examined.

The research investigates sociodemographic and motivational factors that influence consumers' 'willingness to pay a premium' (WTPP) price for healthy beverages using survey data from 1021 consumers in Australia and New Zealand (NZ). Water and juice are rated as representing 'healthy' beverages sold by hospitality businesses.

Comparison of Fluorescein Angiography Findings in Stage 3 Retinopathy of Prematurity in Zone II Treated With or Without Anti-VEGF.

Purpose: To define late-stage fluorescein angiography (FA) findings in patients who received anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) agents (intravitreal bevacizumab or aflibercept) as a treatment for stage 3 retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in zone II. We also compared the findings of untreated eyes.

Method: Infants with a history of ROP who underwent fluorescein angiography were evaluated retrospectively.

Purpose: To evaluate the serum levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) after intravitreal injection of aflibercept (IVA) and the transition of aflibercept into systemic circulation in infants with severe retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).

Methods: This single-centered prospective cohort study included infants who received IVA for the treatment of type 1 ROP in zone I and posterior zone II.

COVID-19 compliance behaviors of older people: The role of cognitive and non-cognitive skills.

This paper examines the empirical relationship between individuals' cognitive and non-cognitive abilities and COVID-19 compliance behaviors using cross-country data from the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE). We find that both cognitive and non-cognitive skills predict responsible health behaviors during the COVID-19 crisis. Episodic memory is the most important cognitive skill, while conscientiousness and neuroticism are the most significant personality traits.

Health Star Ratings and Beverage Purchase Intentions: A Study of Australian and New Zealand Hospitality Consumers.

This study examines the effects of a health star rating system on the attitudes of consumers and their purchase intentions towards beverage products sold in hospitality venues. Previous studies linking health ratings to the food and beverages of consumers mainly focus on fast-moving consumer goods and retail purchasing. However, purchasing patterns in hospitality and foodservice environments are distinct as consumers may be less concerned about health and more interested in the dining experience.
