The relationship between mutation carriage of BRCA1/2 and clinicopathological characteristics in women with breast cancer - experience from a diagnostic centre in Turkey.

The 5-10% of breast cancers (BC) are hereditary, and BRCA1/2 are causative in 25% of those inherited. It was aimed to examine the BRCA1/2 genotype-BC phenotype relationship. In 170 female patients with BC, BRCA1/2 genes were investigated using Next Generation Sequencing.

Effects of COVID-19 pandemic in a breast unit: Is it possible to avoid delays in surgical treatment?

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused fear all around the world. With people avoiding hospitals, there has been a significant decrease in outpatient clinics. In this study, we aimed to compare and explore the first peak of the pandemic period by studying its effects on patient applications, new diagnoses and treatment approaches in a non-infected hospital.

Can preoperative axillary ultrasound and biopsy of suspicious lymph nodes be an alternative to sentinel lymph node biopsy in clinical node negative early breast cancer?

Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of preoperative axillary ultrasonography (AUS) and preoperative axillary fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) from suspicious lymph nodes in clinically node-negative breast cancer to compare with radiologically positive and sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) positive involvement.

Method: Clinically node-negative early-stage breast cancer patients were included in the study. These patients underwent preoperative AUS examination, suspicious lymph nodes were evaluated with FNAB.

Preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio as a predictive factor for survival in nonmetastatic colorectal cancer.

Background: The pretreatment ratio of neutrophils to lymphocytes (NLR) has been suggested as an indicator of poor outcome in various cancers. This study aimed to determine whether the preoperative NLR may be a predictor of survival in patients who underwent curative resection for colorectal cancer (CRC).

Materials And Methods: The records of 219 CRC patients underwent curative resection between 2008 and 2014 were retrospectively evaluated.
