We demonstrate that magneto-ionic devices can perform as synaptic elements with dynamically tunable depression linearity controlled by an external magnetic field, a functionality reminiscent of neuromodulation in biological systems.

Association Between Child Varicella Vaccination and Zoster in Household Adults: A Retrospective Japanese Cohort Study.

Safety Assessment of Influenza Vaccination for Neurological Outcomes Among Older Adults in Japan: A Self-Controlled Case Series Study.

Purpose: To assess adverse neurological risks following influenza vaccination in older adults.

Methods: Using a linked database of healthcare administrative claims data and vaccination records from an urban city in Japan (April 1, 2014, to March 31, 2020), we conducted an observational study utilizing a self-controlled case series design. We identified individuals aged ≥ 65 years who experienced adverse neurological outcomes, defined as hospitalizations related to epilepsy, paralysis, facial paralysis, neuralgia, neuritis, optic neuritis, migraine, extrapyramidal disorders, Guillain-Barre syndrome, or narcolepsy.

Utilization and outcomes of life-supporting interventions in older ICU patients in Japan: a nationwide registry study.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of life-supporting interventions and the short-term outcomes of older patients in ICUs in Japan.

Methods: All adult patients admitted to ICUs participating in the Japanese Intensive Care Patient Database (JIPAD) from April 1, 2015, to March 31, 2022, were eligible for inclusion. Information, including life-supporting interventions, was retrieved from the database.

Here, we report a case of successful fixation of a genital skin graft using negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) with RENASYS Cotton Filler. A 44-year-old male with no relevant medical history underwent split-thickness skin grafting for a genital skin defect caused by Fournier's gangrene.

Methane, a greenhouse gas and energy source, is commonly studied using stable isotope signals as proxies for its formation processes. In subsurface environments, methane often exhibits equilibrium isotopic signals, but the equilibration process has never been demonstrated in the laboratory. We cocultured a hydrogenotrophic methanogen with an H-producing bacterium under conditions (55°C, 10 megapascals) simulating a methane-bearing subsurface.

Methods: Between 2007 and 2023, 53 children with CFLMs were treated with the median on-set age of 5 months (0-165) at our institute. For infants, airway management, including possible tracheotomy was prioritized, and a "wait-and-see" policy was adopted to expect spontaneous regression.

Long-term efficacy of subclavian vein stenting in a patient on hemodialysis complicated by stasis dermatitis due to subclavian vein stenosis.

Unlabelled: Data about the long-term safety and efficacy of stent implantation for central venous stenosis in patients on dialysis are limited. We report the case of a 66-year-old man on hemodialysis for end-stage renal disease who presented with stasis dermatitis around an arteriovenous shunt with ulceration of the left forearm. Computed tomography angiography showed a tight stenosis of the proximal left subclavian vein and the development of collateral blood vessels around the stenosis.

This brief report describes a cytological case of metastatic malignant GCT in the lymph node with immunocytochemical analysis. A 77 years old Japanese female with a history of surgical resection for malignant GCT in the back 8 years earlier presented with swelling of the right neck.
