The development and design of catalysts have become a major pillar of latest research efforts to make sustainable forms of energy generation accessible. The production of green hydrogen by electrocatalytic water splitting is dealt as one of the most promising ways to enable decarbonization. To make the hydrogen evolution reaction through electrocatalytic water splitting usable on a large scale, the development of highly-active catalysts with long-term stability and simple producibility is required.

An experimental study of the phase equilibria of the Ho-rich part of the Ho-Ir-O ternary system at 1073 K by means of x-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, and scanning electron microscopy has been carried out. Ho-hcp and four binary compounds, namely HoIr, HoIr, HoIr, and HoO, were identified in the Ho-Ir-O model alloys after long-term annealing (350-1220 h). No solubility of iridium in HoO oxide and Ho-hcp was observed.

The phase diagram of the Al-Cu-Zn ternary system was re-investigated experimentally. The current study was designed to contribute to a better description of those parts of the phase diagram, which are disputed in the current scientific literature. Mutual relations in the family of ternary intermetallic phases with cubic, rhombohedral and modulated structure at temperatures 400 °C and 550 °C were described.

Solvothermal synthesis was used for Ag-Cu nanoparticle (NP) preparation from metallo-organic precursors. The detailed NP characterization was performed to obtain information about nanoparticle microstructure and both phase and chemical compositions. The resulting nanoparticles exhibited chemical composition inside a FCC_Ag + FCC_Cu two-phase region.
