The bone is a highly dynamic organ that undergoes continuous remodeling through an intricate balance of bone formation and degradation. Hyperactivation of the bone-degrading cells, the osteoclasts (OCs), occurs in disease conditions and hormonal changes in females, resulting in osteoporosis, a disease characterized by altered microarchitecture of the bone tissue, and increased bone fragility. Thus, building robust assays to quantify OC resorptive activity to examine the molecular mechanisms underlying bone degradation is critical.

To address this shortfall, we recruited 1,363 participants from rural and urban areas of Mozambique during the COVID-19 pandemic, determining age, sex, and relation to the contact for each person. Participants reported a mean of 8.

Improving Early Nutrition and Health in South Africa ("ImpENSA"), an EU Erasmus+ co-funded project, aims to tackle the triple burden of malnutrition in South Africa through equipping healthcare professionals (HCPs) with knowledge and skills to effectively support healthy nutritional choices among pregnant women and mothers/infant caregivers. Healthy Conversation Skills (HCS) is a behaviour change intervention utilising open discovery questions, active listening, reflection on practice and goal-setting support through SMARTER (Specific, Measured, Action-oriented, Realistic, Timed, Evaluated and Reviewed) planning as core competences.

PDCs are considered single-component nanomedicines with various functionalities. The peptide moieties provide stability to the PDCs, which self-assemble into nanostructures in an aqueous medium.

The uptake of routine childhood vaccinations has declined globally since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, due in part to increased vaccine hesitancy among parents. The Moral Foundations Theory proposes six foundations which can be targeted to increase vaccine uptake. In this study, we tested whether a post by UNICEF with a purity violation message could affect vaccine attitudes among parents in Argentina, where routine immunization coverage has been declining since 2014.

In Saudi Arabia, scare literature focused on the coprological investigation of dromedary camels (). To determine the taxonomic status of camel parasite species, we performed morphological characterization of oocysts and genetic analysis ( and gene regions) of species collected from camels in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The current study aimed to develop 0.1% w/w of nepafenac-loaded electrospun nanofibrous webs as potential candidates for ocular delivery of nepafenac with improved solubility and stability.

Precision fermentation offers a solution to increase availability of biosimilar recombinant bLf (rbLf) thereby opening new opportunities for this high-value ingredient. To comply with regulatory requirements, we aimed to establish that rbLf from is substantially similar to native bLf in structure and key functions.

This study aimed to develop and characterize cysteamine (Cys)-loaded nanofiber-based ophthalmic inserts (OIs) as a potential candidate for the treatment of ophthalmic cystinosis using water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/poloxamer 407 (PO-407) and water-insoluble tetraethoxysilane (TEOS)/PVA nanofibers. Plain and Cys-loaded fibers in different proportions were prepared by the electrospinning method and studied for their morphological, physicochemical, release study, cytocompatibility effects, and stability study.

Objectives: To study the presentation of cleft lip and the early results of surgical repair among patients who presented to our centers.
Routine childhood immunization is one of the most effective methods of preventing infectious diseases in children. In Argentina, there has been a decline in routine immunization coverage since 2015, with very little evidence to date on underlying drivers of this steady decline. We administered an online nationwide behavioral insights survey in Argentina between July 1-25, 2022, targeting parents with at least one child under the age of 12 years.

With the increased DG from 50 % to 95 %, the water adsorption capacity of CS/L was increased 64 %, 58 %, 47 %, which were higher than that of CS/H (39 %, 54 %, 33 %). The gelatinization of starch was inhibited by WEAX, resulting in the enhancement of crystallinity, short-range ordered structure and molecular size of CS-WEAX complexes.

We quantified the VE in the global population of 3rd generation or later mpox vaccines (MVA-BN, LC16m8, OrthopoxVac) compared with unvaccinated or other vaccinated states for infection, hospitalization and death. VE was stratified by 1-dose and 2-doses and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP).

We established an in vitro model to examine the consequences of estrogen withdrawal (E2-WD) on osteoclasts derived from the mouse macrophage RAW 264.7 cell line and utilized it to investigate the mechanism behind the enhanced osteoclast activity post-menopause.
