Cryoactivation is known to occur in whole blood and plasma samples when kept between +4 and -5 °C, leading to falsely high renin concentrations. In 2022 it has been clearly shown that cryoactivation can also occur in samples stored at -20 °C. Based on these new findings, here we discuss how this can influence the clinical diagnosis of patients.

The interference was identified by both artificially mixing urine samples with this cream and comparing the results obtained using the benzethonium chloride method with those obtained using the pyrogallol red method.

In this review, the effects of HCs on 91 routine chemistry tests, metabolic tests, and tests for liver function, hemostatic system, renal function, hormones, vitamins and minerals were evaluated. Test parameters were differently affected by the dosage, duration, composition of HCs and route of administration.

Introduction: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, pruritic inflammatory disease, characterized by a relapsing-remitting course. The pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis is not completely understood, although the disorder appears to result from the complex interaction between immune abnormalities, genetic and environmental factors. Trace elements are essential for normal functioning of the immune system.

Because of this requirement for tissue processing, patients with neuromuscular diseases often have to travel to centers with on-site muscle pathology laboratories for muscle biopsy sample excision to ensure that samples are properly preserved.
Aim: Here, we developed a preservative solution and examined its protectiveness on striated muscle tissues for a minimum of the length of time that would be required to reach a specific muscle pathology laboratory.
Background: Acute mesenteric ischemia (AMI) is a rapidly progressive disease where early diagnosis is life-saving. As a new cytokine, levels of thevisfatin might be affected during the ischema and reperfusion. In our study, we obtained changes of visfatin levels in the serum, peritoneal and intestinal lavage samples in rats, to investigate the effectiveness of these changes in the early diagnosis of AMI.

Folate metabolism concerns the biochemical reactions in which endogenous and exogenous one-carbon units are transferred to tetrahydrofolates. The remethylation cycle is used for the synthesis of methionine from homocysteine with one-carbon units that come from folate.

It catalysis the formation of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-methyl-THF), which is the methyl donor for synthesis of methionine from homocysteine (Hcy). Decreases in folate consumption due to MTHFR polymorphism may affect production rate of keratinocytes of which had faster reproduction rates with a continuous DNA turnover and this may affect the clinical picture of psoriasis.

MPV can be a potentially useful prognostic biomarker in patients with cardiovascular disease. After reviewing literature, we hypothesized that attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in childhood may be a risk factor for coronary heart disease (CHD) in adulthood.

Most of the previous studies were performed in the 1(st) weeks of life of the preterm newborns. There are no data on the serum levels of MMP-2, MMP-9 or tissue inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases (TIMP-1) from preterm infants recovering from lung morbidities.

Methods: The healthy subjects who have never used contact lenses before were enrolled in the study. Tear film osmolarity values of 16 eyes (group 1) who wore first generation SiH contact lenses were compared with those of 18 eyes (group 2) who wore second generation SiH contact lenses after three months follow-up.
Objectives: The purpose of this experimental pilot study was to create a prefabricated vascularized bone graft using interconnected porous calcium hydroxyapatite ceramic (PCHC) block by combining vascular bundle implantation, rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and administration of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in a rat model.
Materials And Methods: Sixty male Sprague-Dawley rats were used. Experimental animals were divided into six groups, each of which comprised 10 rats.
Background: Local anesthetic infiltration along the incision may be used to provide surgical anesthesia or postoperative analgesia. However, the effect of local anesthetics on wound healing remains controversial. In this investigation, we evaluated the effects of levobupivacaine on wound healing.

Design And Methods: Prolidase enzyme activities were determined in blood, seminal fluid and varicose vein walls in patients with grade 3 varicocele. Sperm parameters were also measured and the relationships between prolidase enzyme and sperm parameters were assessed by statistical correlation analysis.
Purpose: To investigate whether chitosan application over colonic anastomosis line, provide reinforcement, and subsequently improve anastomotic healing.
Methods: Forty eight Wistar albino female rats were used and were randomly divided into four groups, 12 rats in each: The control groups (1 and 3) received no further treatment. The experimental groups (2 and 4) received chitosan application over the colonic anastomosis.
