A Novel Turn on Fluorescence Sensor for Determination Enoxaparin, a Low Molecular Weight Heparin.

A sensor system was designed for the detection of Enoxaparin (Enox), a low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) that was run over the fluorescence quenching mechanism of fluorescein (FL) dye. At nanomolar concentrations, FL probe was subjected to fluorescence quenching by Fe(III). Fluorescence quenching mechanism of FL by Fe(III) was examined using various analytical techniques such as UV-vis absorption, fluorescence, and Fourier transform Infrared spectroscopy techniques, as well as with scanning electron microscope.

Serum NT-pro CNP levels in epileptic seizure, psychogenic non-epileptic seizure, and healthy subjects.

Purpose: Epileptic seizure is the result of uncontrollable neural excitation in the brain. The C-type natriuretic peptide is a member of natriuretic peptide hormone family and is synthesized by brain and blood vessels in CNS. NT-pro CNP is an amino-terminal fragment of C-type natriuretic peptide and is more stable compared to its predecessor.

Background: Migraine pathophysiology involves a neuronal mechanism that is closely associated with the neuronal activation of peripheral trigeminal nociceptive pathways. Age and gender related prevalence of intracranial calcifications in CT imaging; data from 12,000 healthy subjects.

Purpose: Location and extent of intracranial calcifications have been detected accurately with the use of CT technology and since, many clinical or pathological entities have been linked to these calcifications. Our purpose is to provide data regarding the prevalence of calcifications in various locations in brain.

Material And Methods: We retrospectively examined 11,941 subjects who underwent non-contrast enhanced brain CT examination.

The evaluation of myocardial function of patients in the early stage of acute ischemic stroke by two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography.

Purpose: To evaluate the myocardial dysfunction in the early stage of nonhemorrhagic stroke and its association with the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score, by two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography.

Methods: We included 29 patients with acute ischemic stroke, in whom NIHSS scores were calculated and stroke infarct volumes recorded. Within 48 hours of admission, cardiac evaluation with speckle tracking echocardiography was performed and left ventricular global longitudinal strain (GLS) and global longitudinal systolic strain rate were obtained.

Serum levels of pentraxin-3 and other inflammatory biomarkers in migraine: Association with migraine characteristics.

Background: Several studies have been conducted on the inflammatory aspects of migraine. Pentraxins are a novel and important part of innate immunity as a superfamily of acute phase proteins. In our study, we aimed to demonstrate the relationship between migraine and the serum levels of pentraxin-3 (PTX-3), C-reactive protein (CRP), fibrinogen and D-dimer.

Prevalence of Tension-Type Headache in Individuals Aged between 18-65 Years in the Eastern Parts of Turkey.

Objective: Although tension-type headache (TTHA) is one of the most frequently encountered diseases in the general population, relatively few studies have been conducted on this health condition. The published data are limited on the frequency of TTHA in Turkey, and no studies to date have been initiated on the prevalence of TTHA in the city of Erzurum or the Eastern Anatolian Region.

Materials And Methods: The study was conducted using in-depth interviews from 1972 individuals from city of Erzurum.
