Pizotifen maleate (PZM) is an anti-migraine drug. Effective treatment requires accurate measurement of PZM levels in patients and constant medication concentrations in tablets. This paper presents a new spectrofluorimetric approach for detecting PZM in tablets and human blood plasma (spiked with PZM).

With the increased directional drilling activities in the oil and gas industry, combined with the digital revolution amongst all industry aspects, the need became high to optimize all planning and operational drilling activities. One important step in planning a directional well is to select a directional tool that can deliver the well in a cost-effective manner. Rotary steerable systems (RSS) and positive displacement mud motors (PDM) are the two widely used tools, each with distinct advantages: RSS excels in hole cleaning, sticking avoidance and hole quality in general, while PDM offers versatility and lower operating costs.

Factors influencing the diagnosis of CN-NVO include prior antimicrobial therapy, low pathogen burden, fastidious or intracellular organisms, technical issues, and non-infectious mimickers. Diagnosis often relies on imaging modalities like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT)-guided biopsy, though these methods can sometimes fail to yield positive microbiological results.

A green, simple, rapid, selective, and highly sensitive fluorimetric protocol has been established for quantitative analysis of the antibacterial drug moxifloxacin in its pure form and pharmaceutical dosage form. Owing to photoinduced electron transfer, moxifloxacin exhibits low native fluorescence in neutral media. Based on that, the developed fluorimetric protocol depends on inhibiting the photoinduced electron transfer effect of the nitrogen atom presented on the pyrrolidine ring in moxifloxacin by suitable adjusting of pH of the medium surrounding it, leading to its protonation.

Monitoring antipsychotic drugs in biological fluids, such as human serum and urine, is important for ensuring the safety and efficacy of psychiatric treatments. This process helps maintain therapeutic drug levels, minimize side effects, and optimize patient well-being. Chlorpromazine (CZ) is a widely prescribed antipsychotic drug used for conditions like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and acute psychosis.

Colistin (also called polymyxin E) and polymyxin B are the only two examples of this antibiotic class that were effectively employed in such critical situations. In the present work, both of the two studied medications were quantified via a simple, green, and non-extracting spectrophotometric approach based on the formation of ion-pair complexes with Erythrosine B.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA newly green method for the sensitive quantification of cloperastine, a cough suppressant, in spiked human plasma and its pharmaceutical formulation was designed for the first time. The established method depends on the enhancement of the weak fluorescence of cloperastine using 50 mM sulfuric acid to impair the photoinduced electron transfer produced from the nitrogen atom of piperidine moiety in cloperastine. This full protonation in an acid medium leads to an enhancement in the fluorescence of cloperastine, permitting its linear determination from 0.

Methods: This retrospective study analyzed patients undergoing completion thyroidectomy from 2010-2020, either by conventional open technique (n = 87) or a robotic remote-access approach (n = 44).
In recent years, there has been a notable increase in research output on native vertebral osteomyelitis (NVO), coinciding with a rise in its incidence. However, clinical outcomes remain poor, due to frequent relapse and long-term sequelae. Additionally, the lack of a standardized definition and the use of various synonyms to describe this condition further complicate the clinical understanding and management of NVO.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOlopatadine (OLP) is widely utilized as an effective antihistaminic drug for alleviating ocular itching associated with allergic conjunctivitis. With its frequent usage in pharmacies, there arises a pressing need for a cost-effective, easily implementable, environmentally sustainable detection method with high sensitivity. This study presents a novel signal-on fluorimetric method for detecting OLP in both its pure form and aqueous humor.

This study evaluates the application of sMGS for diagnosing osteoarticular infections (OAIs), a condition with significant diagnostic challenges.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis on 73 patients suspected of OAIs at the Mayo Clinic from 2019 to 2023, incorporating mcfDNA sMGS (Karius test [KT]) into their diagnostic evaluation.
Bilastine, a new second generation antihistaminic drug, has been widely used for relieving symptoms of allergic rhinitis and urticaria without a sedative effect. A simple, cost-effective, and highly sensitive fluorimetric method was developed for the estimation of bilastine in human plasma, in addition to its pure state and tablets. The suggested method depended on binary complex formation of eosin with bilastine in a buffered medium at pH 4.

As a result, the suggested technique aims to develop a fast, environmentally friendly, and sensitive fluorimetric method for quantifying Polymyxin B. The investigated approach depends on generating a highly fluorescent derivative by a condensation pathway between the studied drug and ninhydrin in the presence of phenylacetaldehyde and then estimated spectrofluorimetrically.

A green, rapid and sensitive fluorimetric method to quantify levodropropizine (LVP) in human plasma was exploited for the first time. The proposed method adopts LVP's intrinsic fluorescence in distilled water at a detecting emission of 345 nm following excitation at 240 nm. LVP displayed linearity across concentrations ranging from 50 to 1000 ng mL, with a detection limit of 0.
