Despite widespread mass rollout programs, the rapid spread of the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant called into question the effectiveness of the existing vaccines against infection, hospitalization, severity, and mortality compared to previous variants. This systematic review summarizes and compares the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccines, with respect to the above outcomes in adults, children, and adolescents. A comprehensive literature search was undertaken on several databases.

However, the generation of CD1aCD14 DCs and their functional properties in patients with CML remain elusive. Here, we aimed to study the biology of DCs generated from CD34 HPSCs and evaluate the status of their BCR/ABL translocation, ability to stimulate T cells, and capacity of endocytosis compared to DCs derived from CD34 HPSCs from both patients with CML and healthy donors.

Background: Although enhanced recovery after bariatric surgery (ERABS) has proven to be safe and cost-effective, this concept is relatively new in the Middle East.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of consecutive registered cohorts of patients who underwent primary and purely laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) or laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB) were compared before introduction of ERABS (2010-2014) and after ERABS (2015-2017) at Tawam Hospital/Johns Hopkins, the UAE.
Results: A total of 462 eligible bariatric patients (LSG 414 and LRYGB 48) were operated on before and 1602 (LSG 1436 and LRYGB 166) after introduction of the ERABS.
Background: Brucellosis is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in patients living in areas that are endemic for the infection.
Case Presentation: A 20 years old Saudi male was diagnosed to have severe aplastic anemia at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh in April 2006. One hundred and twelve days following his successful allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant, he presented with pyrexia in addition to neutropenia and mild thrombocytopenia.
Background: The use of antilymphocyte agents has improved patient and graft survival in hematopoietic stem cell and solid organ transplantation but has been associated with the development of short-term toxicities as well as long-term complications.
Case Presentation: We report a young female with Fanconi anemia who received antithymocyte globulin as part of the conditioning regimen prior to her planned allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh. She developed sudden and severe hepatotoxicity after receiving the first dose of horse antithymocyte globulin, manifested by marked elevation of serum transaminases and mild elevation of serum bilirubin level.
Objective: Previously, deletion 6p23 was generally reported in therapy-related secondary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) as part of complex karyotypes. In this report, we present two young adult patients with de novo AML-M2 and a terminal deletion 6p23 as a sole primary abnormality, confirmed by chromosome 6 specific subtelomeric probes.
Methods: Two female patients 35 and 20 yr of age presented with anemia, but no bleeding, infections, lymphadenopathy or organomegaly.
Objective: To report 2 cases of acute tumor lysis syndrome (ATLS) associated with hydroxyurea treatment.
Case Summary: A 79-year-old woman diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia presented with an acute blastic transformation. She was promptly hydrated, started on allopurinol, and treated with hydroxyurea.
