Consumer Likelihood to Seek Information on OTC Medicines.

There is concern as to whether the public use OTC (over-the-counter) medicines with due diligence. The objective was to quantify the likelihood and extent people would seek information on OTC medicines in relation to 10 non-medicine products as a surrogate of the importance consumers place on them. Citizens of one Canadian province estimated the likelihood and extent (scale of 1 to 10) they would search for information when considering a purchase.

Development of a Propensity to Self-Medicate with Over-the-Counter Medicines Scale (PSM-OTC).

: To develop a valid and reliable scale to measure the public's propensity to self-medicate with OTC medicines. Propensity construct items were obtained from the literature and also created as new entities. Three experts reviewed the item pool for face validity.

It has been suggested that the COVID-19 pandemic led to an increase in self-medication practices across the world. Yet, there is no up-to-date synthesized evidence on the prevalence of self-medication that is attributable to the pandemic. This study aimed to conduct a systematic literature review on the prevalence and correlates of self-medication for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 globally.

Acceptability of HIV Screening in a Sample of International Students in the United States.

Background And Objectives: HIV transmission from persons unaware of their HIV status occurs more commonly than those who are aware of their status. Knowledge of one's HIV status may encourage preventive behaviors. Anecdotal evidence suggests that many international students may be willing to accept HIV screening, but empirical evidence to support this claim is lacking.
