Purpose: To describe the pattern of quantitative parasympathetic cardiovascular autonomic function among patients with normal-tension glaucoma (NTG) and high-tension primary open-angle glaucoma (HTG) patients.

Methodology: This was cross-sectional study of ninety-two subjects enrolled into three groups: HTG (31 patients), NTG (31 patients) and Control (30 patients). All the participants had anthropometric assessment, ophthalmic examination, baseline cardiovascular examination and the three parasympathetic components of Ewing's battery of autonomic cardiovascular function tests namely heart rate (HR) response to deep breathing, HR response to Valsalva manoeuvre and HR response to standing.

Purpose: To assess morphological optic disc dimensions using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) in a Nigerian population.

Materials And Method: Good quality SD-OCT scans of the optic disc of 147 eyes of 88 participants were selected, enrolled, and retrospectively reviewed. All subjects had optic nerve head and retinal nerve fibre layer OCT imaging, as well as analysis, done using the Topcon 3D OCT-1 Maestro.

Objective: The objective of this study is to determine the burden of visual impairment and blindness from vitreoretinal diseases in the retina unit of a Nigerian tertiary hospital.

Methodology: A prospective, cross-sectional study on all consecutive new patients presenting with vitreoretinal diseases (VRD) at the vitreoretinal (VR) clinic at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile-Ife from May 2011 to April 2014. Patient's bio-data, presenting complains, Snellen's or tumbling E-chart visual acuity unaided, slit-lamp examination of the vitreous and fundus with +90/+78D, binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy as well as slit-lamp examination of anterior segment, and applanation tonometry findings were recorded in predesigned pro forma.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the prevalence and pattern of ocular surface disease (OSD) in glaucoma patients using preserved topical antiglaucoma medications in a Nigerian population.

Methodology: A comparative study of patients who had used topical preserved antiglaucoma medications for 6 months or more with age- and sex-matched individuals who were not on any other form of topical eye medication was carried out using fluorescein tear breakup time (FTBUT), Schirmer I test, and ocular surface staining with fluorescein and lissamine green. The right eyes of 103 eligible patients with primary open-angle glaucoma and that of 103 age- and sex-matched individuals (controls) were included in the study.
