This study introduces the DUS Topp-Leone family of distributions, a novel extension of the Topp-Leone distribution enhanced by the DUS transformer. We derive the cumulative distribution function (CDF) and probability density function (PDF), demonstrating the distribution's flexibility in modeling various lifetime phenomena. The DUS-TL exponential distribution was studied as a sub-model, with analytical and graphical evidence revealing that it exhibits a unique unimodal shape, along with fat-tail characteristics, making it suitable for time-to-event data analysis.

Auxiliary data needs to be incorporated into survey sampling in order to create a precise population parameter estimator. This study investigates improving the efficiency of these estimators, the researchers use study variable [cumulative distribution function, (CDF)] and auxiliary variable (CDF, mean and ranks) to achieve this goal in the condition of non-response. The researchers suggest two ideal families of exponential estimators to obtain an enhanced population (CDF) estimators in simple random sampling under non-response, by utilizing the data from dual auxiliary variable.

This research introduces a novel two-parameter distribution, the power-modified XLindley distribution, developed through the application of power transformation techniques to the existing modified XLindley distribution. This new distribution enhances flexibility and adaptability in statistical modeling. We conduct a thorough examination of its statistical properties, exploring its potential to improve data fitting and modeling accuracy.

This paper investigates a novel category of probability distributions and a specific member within this category. We have formulated a new family of trigonometric distributions by utilizing the odds ratio derived from the distribution function of a base distribution. This newly devised distribution family termed the "Sine pie-power odd-G family" of distributions, is constructed through a transformation involving the sine function.

Background: The birthweight of a newborn is critical to their health, development, and well-being. Previous studies that used maternal characteristics to predict birthweight did not employ a harmonised scale to assess the risk of low birthweight (LBW).

Objective: The goal of this study was to develop a new instrument that uses items on a uniform scale to assess the risk of an LBW in a pregnant woman.

Historically, investigators have not differentiated between patients with and without hemorrhagic transformation (HT) in large core ischemic stroke at risk for life-threatening mass effect (LTME) from cerebral edema. Our objective was to determine whether LTME occurs faster in those with HT compared to those without. We conducted a two-center retrospective study of patients with ≥ 1/2 MCA territory infarct between 2006 and 2021.

This manuscript develops few efficient difference and ratio kinds of imputations to handle the situation of missing observations given that these observations are polluted by the measurement errors (ME). The mean square errors of the developed imputations are studied to the primary degree approximation by adopting Taylor series expansion. The proposed imputations are equated with the latest existing imputations presented in the literature.

In the present study, we develop and investigate the odd Frechet Half-Logistic (OFHL) distribution that was developed by incorporating the half-logistic and odd Frechet-G family. The OFHL model has very adaptable probability functions: decreasing, increasing, bathtub and inverted U shapes are shown for the hazard rate functions, illustrating the model's capacity for flexibility. A comprehensive account of the mathematical and statistical properties of the proposed model is presented.

Zero-inflated Poisson (ZIP) model is widely used for counting data with excessive zeroes. The multicollinearity is the common factor in the explanatory variables of the count data. In this context, typically, maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) generates unsatisfactory results due to inflation of mean square error (MSE).

Background: Several studies have investigated the independent effect of cigarette smoking or type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) on MASLD. However, the interaction effect between tobacco consumption and T2DM on MASLD severity remains underexplored. In this study, we assessed the combined effect of tobacco use and T2DM on hepatic fibrosis in MASLD.

Active school transport (AST) refers to using active means of transport such as walking, cycling, or riding a non-motorised scooter to school. It can help improve adolescents' physical activity levels and create a more sustainable environment. The study involved 70 adolescents (45 boys and 25 girls) aged 13 to 14 from one school in Skellefteå, in Northern Sweden.

Background: Asymmetric pupil reactivity or size can be early clinical indicators of midbrain compression due to supratentorial ischemic stroke or primary intraparenchymal hemorrhage (IPH). Radiographic midline shift is associated with worse functional outcomes and life-saving interventions. Better understanding of quantitative pupil characteristics would be a non-invasive, safe, and cost-effective way to improve identification of life-threatening mass effect and resource utilization of emergent radiographic imaging.

Background: Abstraction of critical data from unstructured radiologic reports using natural language processing (NLP) is a powerful tool to automate the detection of important clinical features and enhance research efforts. We present a set of NLP approaches to identify critical findings in patients with acute ischemic stroke from radiology reports of computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Methods: We trained machine learning classifiers to identify categorical outcomes of edema, midline shift (MLS), hemorrhagic transformation, and parenchymal hematoma, as well as rule-based systems (RBS) to identify intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) and continuous MLS measurements within CT/MRI reports.

Article Synopsis
  • Non-immune international travellers are at significant risk of hepatitis A, particularly those who are unvaccinated and travel to high-risk areas, but vaccination compliance is low.
  • A study of 254 travellers infected with hepatitis A revealed a median age of 28 years, with a majority being male and unvaccinated; common travel reasons included tourism and visiting friends.
  • Hepatitis A infections frequently occurred in South-Central Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, with some cases from low-endemicity regions, highlighting the need for better pre-departure vaccination education for travellers.

Article Synopsis
  • * This study introduces the Composite Index of Anthropometric Failure (CIAF) to better assess malnutrition's overall impact on children under five, using data from the 2012-2013 Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey.
  • * Findings indicate that children with educated mothers are 43% less likely to be malnourished, and improving maternal education and socioeconomic status is vital for reducing malnutrition rates; policymakers should use CIAF for a comprehensive understanding of the malnutrition burden.

In this work, a new family of distributions, which extends the Beta transmuted family, was obtained, called the Modified Beta Transmuted Family of distribution. This derived family has the Beta Family of Distribution and the Transmuted family of distribution as subfamilies. The Modified beta transmuted frechet, modified beta transmuted exponential, modified beta transmuted gompertz and modified beta transmuted lindley were obtained as special cases.

This research mainly aims to develop a generalized cure rate model, estimate the proportion of cured patients and their survival rate, and identify the risk factors associated with infectious diseases. The generalized cure rate model is based on bounded cumulative hazard function, which is a non-mixture model, and is developed using a two-parameter Weibull distribution as the baseline distribution, to estimate the cure rate using maximum likelihood method and real data with R and STATA software. The results showed that the cure rate of tuberculosis (TB) patients was 26.

Accurate, automated extraction of clinical stroke information from unstructured text has several important applications. ICD-9/10 codes can misclassify ischemic stroke events and do not distinguish acuity or location. Expeditious, accurate data extraction could provide considerable improvement in identifying stroke in large datasets, triaging critical clinical reports, and quality improvement efforts.
