Door-to-Diuretic Time and Outcomes in Acute Heart Failure: A Scoping Review.

Introduction: Inadequate decongestion remains an unmet need in the management of patients with heart failure. The concept of door-to-diuretic (D2D) time to improve outcomes has been proposed for patients with heart failure (HF), but the trial results have been mixed.

Methods: We utilized Preferred Reporting Instrument for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) for scoping reviews with an extensive a priori search strategy for databases: PubMed and Scopus between January 2015 and November 2023.

Prevalence and Incidence of Type 1 Brugada Pattern: A 30-Year Experience at Mayo Clinic.

Objective: To identify the incidence and prevalence of type 1 Brugada pattern at Mayo Clinic during 30 years.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the electronic medical records from 1992 to 2021 at Mayo Clinic Enterprise. Patients with type 1 Brugada pattern electrocardiogram (ECG) were identified by a systematic keyword search.

Electrophysiologic Considerations in Adult Patients with Ebstein's Anomaly.

Ebstein's anomaly (EA) is a rare cyanotic form of congenital heart disease (CHD) characterized by apical displacement of the tricuspid valve, with resultant hemodynamic and electrical manifestations. The severity of symptoms is determined by the degree of apical displacement and deformity and incompetence of the tricuspid valve. As a result, patients with EA can be severely symptomatic during infancy and childhood or can be incidentally discovered in the sixth or seventh decade of life.

Scar-Related Monomorphic Ventricular Tachycardia After Treated Right Ventricular Metastatic Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma.

A patient with ventricular tachycardia (VT) and right ventricular (RV) metastatic diffuse large B-cell lymphoma had persistent RV gadolinium enhancement following chemotherapy and disease remission. Electrophysiology study demonstrated inducible sustained monomorphic VT requiring subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator implantation. This highlights the arrhythmogenic potential of residual scar after resolution of cardiac masses.

The electrocardiographic manifestations of pectus excavatum before and after surgical correction.

Background: Pectus excavatum (PEx) can cause cardiopulmonary limitations due to cardiac compression and displacement. There is limited data on electrocardiogram (ECG) alterations before and after PEx surgical repair, and ECG findings suggesting cardiopulmonary limitations have not been reported. The aim of this study is to explore ECG manifestations of PEx before and after surgery including associations with exercise capacity.

Case report: A case of perinodal atrial tachycardia and review of the relevant clinical anatomy surrounding the retroaortic node.

A 70-year-old female presented with incessant supraventricular tachycardia that was refractory to metoprolol and sotalol. ECG revealed a narrow complex tachycardia with a rate of 163 beats per minute with a short RP relationship. She had salvos of atrial tachycardia which led to a severe reduction in ejection fraction as noted on echocardiography and hemodynamic instability.

Type of syncope and outcome in Brugada syndrome: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Introduction: Brugada syndrome is an inherited arrhythmic disease associated with major arrhythmic events (MAE). The importance of primary prevention of sudden cardiac death (SCD) in Brugada syndrome is well recognized; however, ventricular arrhythmia risk stratification remains challenging and controversial. We aimed to assess the association of type of syncope with MAE via systematic review and meta-analysis.

The Role of CYP450 Drug Metabolism in Precision Cardio-Oncology.

As many novel cancer therapies continue to emerge, the field of Cardio-Oncology (or onco-cardiology) has become crucial to prevent, monitor and treat cancer therapy-related cardiovascular toxicity. Furthermore, given the narrow therapeutic window of most cancer therapies, drug-drug interactions are prevalent in the cancer population. Consequently, there is an increased risk of affecting drug efficacy or predisposing individual patients to adverse side effects.
