Objective: Elevated rates of social difficulties are evident for children and adolescents with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) but the effects of social skills interventions have not been investigated for this population. The Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®), a widely established social skills intervention in autism spectrum disorders with expansion to other conditions, was recently modified to be offered virtually. This study examined the feasibility and acceptability of this telehealth intervention.

Preclinical models are essential for studying the neurobiology of and developing pharmacotherapies to treat these problems. Historically, chronic morphine injections have most often been used to produce opioid-dependent animals, and withdrawal signs indicative of dependence were precipitated by administering an opioid antagonist.

Here we investigate how communication between extracellular stress and chromatin structure may regulate cellular mechanical behaviors. We demonstrate that histone H1.

Toward educating DEI-competent bioengineers and meeting evolving accreditation requirements, we took a program-level approach to incorporate, catalog, and assess DEI content through the bioengineering undergraduate program. To support instructors in adding DEI content and inclusive pedagogy, our team developed a DEI planning worksheet and surveyed instructors pre- and post-course.

The relationship between collagen structure and fibroblast phenotype is poorly understood but could provide insights regarding the mechanistic basis for myofibroblast heterogeneity in the injured heart.
Objective: To investigate the role of collagen organization in cardiac fibroblast fate determination.
Fibroblasts are the primary regulator of cardiac extracellular matrix (ECM). In response to disease stimuli cardiac fibroblasts undergo cell state transitions to a myofibroblast phenotype, which underlies the fibrotic response in the heart and other organs. Identifying regulators of fibroblast state transitions would inform which pathways could be therapeutically modulated to tactically control maladaptive extracellular matrix remodeling.

Despite this progress, vascularizing these constructs continues to be a barrier to clinical application. One emerging strategy for vascularization uses aligned "cords" of endothelial cells in tissue grafts to guide assembly of chimeric microvessels upon graft implantation.

We focus here on one of these innovations, reported by Lee et al., which lowers the resolution limit for printing soft biomaterials.

These signals are often soluble, such that biomolecules produced by one cell diffuse to receiving cells. To recapitulate soluble factor patterning in vitro, several microscale strategies have been developed.

We hypothesized that increased order in the vibrating signal after surgical intervention would decrease the eigenmode-based entropy and increase correlation length.

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the expression and role of surfactant protein (SP) in the middle ear throughout lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced otitis media with effusion (OME).
Study Design: Randomized case-controlled animal model.
Setting: Shandong University, Jinan, China.
Purpose: To assess the influence of the origin of astigmatism on the correction of myopic astigmatism by laser-assisted subepithelial keratectomy (LASEK).
Setting: Ophthalmology Department, Eye and ENT Hospital, Shanghai, China.

Background: The Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) form translates patient treatment preferences into medical orders. The Oregon POLST Registry provides emergency personnel 24-h access to POLST forms.
Objective: To determine if Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) can use the Oregon POLST Registry to honor patient preferences.
The paper analyses medical expressions which are refered to as professional terms. The lexical data were collected during performing orbitotomy. The authors confirm the necessity and usefulness of the application by medical staff of brief statements, usually confined to one word or phrase which conveys the main meaning.

In the present study, DNA content and clinical and histopathologic features were analyzed in patients suffering from laryngeal carcinoma, with a view to establishing the crucial prognostic factors. In the 5-year follow-up study, flow cytometry was used to analyze DNA content in the paraffin-embedded samples of laryngeal carcinoma tissue obtained from 90 patients who had undergone surgical treatment in the Department of Otolaryngology, Collegium Medicum, Jagiellonian University, Cracow, Poland, in 1987 and 1988.

A series of 39 patients with problems of deglutition after total laryngectomy was studied by X-ray screening and manometry. The importance of the retropulsive movement of the tongue on the quality of deglutition has been demonstrated, as has the function of the superior oesophageal constrictor, the effect of a reduced relaxation time, and of the force of suction in reducing its quality.

We examined retrospectively whether the quantitative morphometric analysis of nuclear shapes in patients with advanced cancer of the larynx could be used as a prognostic factor. In all, specimens were taken from 90 patients treated by surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology, Jagiellonian University, Cracow, Poland, between 1987 and 1988. The follow-up period was no shorter than 5 years.

Objective: The main objective of the present study was to assess the degree of voice signal impairment among patients who had undergone partial surgery of the larynx due to cancer of this organ. Such on evaluation may be helpful in the selection of the optimal surgical technique for the treatment of tumors displaying a varying degree of local advancement.
Methods: A prospective examination was carried out among 128 patients.
